Anyone interested in bench press for the centers-
    Beaux Limmer, Arkansas- 39
    JPJ- 30
    Frazier- 30
    Gargiulo, South Carolina- 28
    Nourzad- 27
    Nugent, Michigan- 25
    Bortolini- 21.

Van Pran either didn't lift or had less than 20, not sure which.

It’s a surprise to me honestly. I thought Van Pran showed enough athleticism to really show off at the combine, in shorts and all. But he either flopped or did not participate.

Yeah, the only two linemen NFL network had as "dropped" were Fashanu (who they had as dropping out of the top 10), and Van Pran, who they had dropping out of the first 4 rounds.

Frazier being brought in for one of our 30 visits, although I’m pretty sure WV counts as a local visit for us, so doesn’t count towards the 30.

What are you doing with Graham Barton then? He has never played center, but his arms came in under 33", so "they" say he can't play tackle in the NFL. He is now trying to compete as a center, but he is 6'5" is he too tall to play center in the NFL?

This was my question to you. "but he is 6'5" is he too tall to play center in the NFL?" You said in your post that 6'6" was too tall to play center, I was just wondering what you thought of a 6'5" guy.

Not sure why Barton went with the Center position, rather than Guard.

Any size can play center, but the taller You are the more disadvantage You have in most cases....at times....the center must get lower than most....it's all about leverage. Nobody is saying a 6 foot 6, or 7, or 8 can't do it....just like nobody is saying a 5 foot 6 Qb can't do it....it is just they are automatically at a disadvantage.

Barton played center his entire freshman year before being switched to LT the following season. He really doesn't have any experience at the guard position.

Hey, I posted this over in the Steelers thread about Herbig being the Steelers starting center, but did you guys know Adrian Klemm was JPJ's O-Line coach in 2022 at Oregon?

Small World. Hopefully the Steelers can get some inside info on JPJ.

He did play center as a freshman. Then they moved him to LT for his last 3 years.

Yeah, @S.T.D@S.T.D is a CB guru, not a center guru.

You are correct. Graham Barton had 5 starts at center his freshman year at Duke filling in for an injured player. Then for the next 3 years he played Left Tackle.

Boy, I hope they know this is not someone who will be good to go at Center for week 1 in the NFL. See Kendrick Green 2.0.

Complete mystery to me, his draft season has been a complete disaster. He started out with talk of being one of the best center and maybe a late 1st round pick, to "Van Pran should be available in the 3rd round".

It started when he accepted the invitation to the senior bowl, and then the night before he posted that he was not going, without any reason why. Van Pran at least ran at the combine, but did not Bench.

I was trying to find some pro day results for Van Pran, and see if the Steelers took him out to Dinner? I couldn't find anything about him speaking to the Steelers. The Steelers sent the house again to Georgia's Pro day.

I liked Humphrey more than JPJ coming out and he went at #63. He was a two year starter and was named the Big 12 Conference's offensive lineman of the year in both seasons.

JPJ may be getting overdrafted in these mocks.

I like him but I'd rather have a OT. You have to draft your own tackles.

More like must in Pittsburghs case. The Hip Drop Tackle ban put the nail in the coffin to that. Not that I didnt think players like Latham or Mims were not on Pittsburghs radar anyways. Georgia and Alabama are no different than seasonal retreats for the Steelers FO.

One or the other... one or the other.

It is cheaper to sign a free agent center than tackle, but the Steelers failed to do that. Maybe a tackle has more value, but if the goal is to win now, center has to be the top priority.

What are the red flags in JPJ's medical condition that Matt Williamson is talking about this morning? I also agree that Mason Cole is currently the best free agent center out there.

And, Please stop with the Connor Williams talk for 2024, even his agent is saying his client is not ready to start thinking about coming back to the NFL at this point in his recovery from his ACL injury.

At 10:30 he talks about multiple sources reporting medical red flags with JPJ.

I was just going to post this. He did say he’s heard from multiple people there were medical concerns with jpj. However, he also added the caveat that it could be just rumors.

Maybe the Steelers started that rumor to lower JPJ's value.
