That's QB money I can't see the Vikings paying him that much.

There are reports Boyd wants to be paid like he's a #2 WR, the Steelers are right in not offering him that type of money.

Going to be a whole lot of Wrs from the 3rd round on down that can play....if the Qb can get them the ball. Look at how many Wrs We've had do great beyond the 1st round, and across the league beyond the 1st round. If the Qb can play.....so can most the wrs. Every single year there are great Wrs drafted past the 1st....So why waste a 1st on it???

He had more sacks last year than Herbig and Golden combined.

The Ravens won't get to the Super Bowl until Lamar can get them there by passing the ball effectively.

I doubt they will be drafting a center in the first round, Tomlin/Khan didn't attend JPJ pro day.

I guess you missed the point.

Its not that we've never made good picks in the first round, its that weve missed on enough recently that it shouldnt be a forbidden thought to trade a 1sts for a proven star player.

So what do you think the success level of 1st round draft picks is? 97%, with only the Steelers missing? Around 30% of 1st round picks in the 20-32 range, where we usually pick, have their fifth year option picked up. Even in the top 10, it's only about 65%. Hell, look at Cleveland's 1st round picks the last 12, 15 years.

I will agree, though, a first round pick, for an established YOUNG star, like Minkah, makes sense. That is probably our best use of a first round pick since TJ Watt. But remember, Minkah was a second year player totally misused by their drafting team, giving us 3 3/4 years on a rookie contract.

No, I didnt say any of that. Nor do I think any of that.

I didn't say that we've never made a good pick in the 1st round or that we are expected to hit every pick.

All I said, in so many words, is that we have missed on quite a few 1st round picks in recent years. Since that is the case, it shouldn't be crazy to think about trading a 1 for a proven star (in a position of need).

Just off the top of my head, aside from TJ, those picks were all between 12 to 22ish years ago?

It was more of a commentary on recent draft picks.

He fails the test.... Is he worth the money?
I've heard he is looking for a pretty good payday. If he's not going to negotiate, say for incentives (likely to achieve) that will give him a better payday based off performance then so be it.

I like Boyd, but I hope we don’t overpay. He’s a solid player, but there’s nothing dynamic in his game. He’s going to be at his best with at least 2 other receivers on the field who the defense is more focused on stopping.

we do have two former second round picks added in mims and jefferson. pickens and callaway and austin. the cupboard isn't bare. if we add one in the draft we may be in pretty good shape. they can all run. most are bigger bodied guys.

That a player was once a second-round pick doesn't make him good now. They are hurting at receiver, which is one reason the price is going to be very high in trade or free agency. Other teams and agents know the Steelers need help.

It could still happen...some WR like Hill and Adams make like 30 millions per year and Jefferson is younger

Vikings are desperate for trade capital. A second this year and a third next year, maybe?

Lamar can do it in the regular season, just need to do the same thing in the playoffs....But every RB become a much better running back when you have a great runner as QB.....It was the same thing for the falcons when they had Vick.I think Henry will be great with the ravens since on every run by Henry, you have also to respect the running ability of Lamar

Outside of TJ Watt, every other first round pick were over 10 years ago, some were even 20 years ago....I hope it will change with Khan and his first draft look very good and I am not against to use a WR in the first round by trade or by the draft

The rumor is the Vikings are going to trade up to draft JJ McCarthy, they acquired an additional first round pick from the Texans.

he was full time player / starter, correct?

they each played maybe 20 - 25 snaps combined as role players.

i may be wrong, but sure, DuPree as a full time starter would have more sacks, of course. and by how many, I did not even look.

I am simply done with him, at the ask price I am sure he would have.

very happy with our group of 4
