I dont know how I got into this parallel dimension, help.

 

I like Fields as a back up, maybe in a year or two he can start but right now, this year, he would n make a good back up #2 QB

A 6th round pick for Fields that could be as much as a 4th if Fields plays a lot. I think he's going to have a chance to compete at training camp for the #1. If nothing else, Russ is a 1 year here before his price explodes next year and if Fields doesn't wow the coaches, they move on. This really is a win IMO

 

Absolutely love it. We turned a Pickett - Rudolph QB room into a Wilson - Fields room in like a week. Costs us less than 5 mil and a 6th round pick next year. Well done.

 

I'd think Russ starts, but would be on a short (er) leash

only a 1 yr deal - let Fields watch and grow and learn.....

I was going to post this anyway even before this, but
- in over 50 years of being a Steelers fan, this has been the craziest off season week in that time. By a lot. And, a lot crazier than almost every regular season week too, for that matter.

Getting to the relevant point- who, in their wildest imagination even a couple weeks ago, would have figured they would get BOTH Wilson and Fields? and for very little? I suppose this is like the draft last year, when no one could have hoped that they would get BOTH Jones and Porter?

Well, time will tell. But after years of the Steelers never doing anything to address which everyone else could see needed doing, this off season has been a total 180. Here's to the end of inertia.

Either way is a win. Gets some competition on the roster to start and at the very least it gives us an option to let Fields learn behind Wilson and sign an extension for less than the 5th year option. Wow.
