Rattler's draft status has greatly improved recently. MVP of the Senior Bowl, excellent combine performance and put on a show on his pro day. This off season has propelled him from a 5th round pick to a mid 3rd round pick at least.

Most draft sites have Travis as a 5th round pick, the Steelers don't have a 5th round choice this year so they would have to hope he falls to round #6.

When does logic come into play here? If he is the guy you want and he is there in the 4th you grab him, not saying I would, but at that level in the draft you can play around, try and drop and get him, grab him where you are, or just pass. We traded a future 4th, to get back into that years 5th to grab Loudermilk..that logic sucked. We grabbed Muth in the 2nd over Creed (understandable in some ways), but knowing we needed a starting calibar C, grabbed Green in the next round..that was logicall I guess.

Point is you never know how a guy will transform from college to pro, if you have scouted him and he is there you take him.

I'm not really high on any of the Qbs this year, but I totally agree with You. Plus many Qbs are worth the risk after the 3rd round, but don't just take on to take one....like apparently the last Qb We drafted in the late rounds.

The next Steeler “franchise” QB isn’t in the league currently and is not in this draft. I think it’ll be a while before we get our next Bradshaw or Big Ben.

For me, the name "Spencer Rattler" is enough to disqualify him. Sounds like a pseudonym or a kid with nutty parents who raised nut. Next.

    JJ
    Penix
    Pratt

JJ rising up the boards, probably gone in the first.

Penix might be available later and Pratt definitely will be.

Wouldn’t hate it if they took a chance on Rattler but not my first choice.

What is Rattler, like 37 years old? Why does it feel like he's been in college forever?

This reminds me of how LeBron James had the facial look of a 30 year old coming out of high school.

    Just my opinion....

    Caleb Williams equals Baker Mayfield
Drake Maye is not ready to be QB1 in the NFL, should sit a year.
Jayden Daniels is the best QB in this draft. He is what LJ aspires to be.
Michael Penix is a taller Drew Brees. Will excel in the right system.
JJ McCarthy will be best in a run heavy, play action offense.
Bo Nix has a big arm and great mobility, could be Herbert/Lawrence, could be Pickett/Fields.
Spencer Rattler is Brock Purdy with a prettier deep ball.
Michael Pratt is my pick for closest QB to BigBen, just not as BIG.
Jordan Travis has a better head for the game than the physical tools.
Joe Milton has all the physical tools that cannot be coached. Sitting a year or 2 behind a seasoned pro makes him a great prospect.

Milton comment… hahaha but so true… good arm .. know idea where the
    ball is going
    JJ another Pickett
Bo Nix maybe better than Pickett , 10 yrs in college just like Pickett, not successful in SEC so he went to women’s athletic conference

Dont like Spencer but only remember him at OU since I follow them. But he sure seemed worse than even Landy Jones and we saw how that went here.

Edit: Memory is failing me, but stat wise Spencers might be a bit better? At least the rating and yards / attempt is higher.

But I didn't link the Landry signing and been a while but I just remember liking and then not liking Spencer as much. I know he lost his job to Caleb but memory is foggy now.

This team has so many holes, I’d rather we not spend a pick on a QB at all this year.

Sign a contract friendly #2 back up in FA, and pick up some UDFA as your #3.

If Wilson balls out, Steelers will probably try to resign for an extra year or two anyways…so no need to reach for a qb in the mid rounds.
