Hardly overrated. The dropped passes thing is ancient history. You might want to look up the actual facts before making such claims. You have no idea about the locker room. They might be able to get a good wide receiver in free agency. The same with the draft. Let’s not forget the vast majority of draft picks don’t pan out.

Minus Claypool, Steelers have done a good job drafting WRs in the past 15 years. That's a fact.

Wallace, AB, Sanders, Bryant, Wheaton, JuJu, DJ, Pickens, CAIII

I still have hope that the Steelers make a move to sign a big time WR to help Russell out.

Now that free agency has begun, I am also assuming Connor Williams will be making his rounds to teams that might be interested in a center, but would like to have his knee checked out before making an offer.

Agent Says Connor Williams Might Wait to Sign In Free Agency
While agents rarely admit to such things, it’s easy to see why Connor Williams might want to wait and sign in free agency. If it weren’t for his injury, Williams had the potential to completely reset the center market and earn a major long-term deal. That probably isn’t going to happen, at least not in his current state.

I agree that he got a bad rap for the dropped passes (it really was an issue in one year, not so much in the others).

DJ is heading into his last year of his contract and I am not sure we would have resigned him anyway. To me, the trade gives us depth at CB and some added flexibility in the draft.

True, but draft picks are still a gamble. Past success doesn’t guarantee future success, but nice try

you seem to have him more highly rated than most in the league, or we would have gotten more for him.

he does not contest well for the ball. he is a good 2nd tier WR.

    we will make it

    trust me.

i gave him props in another thread.

but it was the right move.

and he does drop balls, it is not ancient history - it would have been NEAR history if Kenny would have gotten more attempts his way.....to DROP! Let's go the other way then - he ONLY CAUGHT 51 balls last year. Not nearly enough.....

he was going to want too much money and be a pain in the hiney about it.

**** contested catches and that holds true for one of the best route runners in the league . Apparently you missed it, but that is in fact dj. I will take an open wide receiver over a contested catch any day of the week. News flash for you every wide receiver drops a pass. Dj had issues with it 4-5 years ago and put in the work.

The NFL without a salary cap would be fun to watch. The Dodgers would probably dominate;)

Khan doesn't have any track record on drafting WRs. We can't just assume he's going to be as successful as Colbert was with that position.

I was thinking more in the lines of Washington and Claypool.

Juju is in the last decade. Those other guys were 2009/10 era.
Most teams continually have a very good receiver or two. Someone has to catch the ball. My point is we are not really some WR factory like some people think. I’d be willing to bet we are middle of the road at best.

Steelers are on a path to draft a wideout high in the draft.

I know, I blew my top a little too early. I still think we are screwed at center.

I don't want to go through another Kendrick Green year; where the center we draft is the starting center no matter how bad he looks in camp.
