Pat Meyer was at Oregon's pro day, he could still be in play.

I think Tomlin is usually there for the guys who they are considering in the first round.

I know that but Tomlin already met with JPJ at the senior bowl, it's probably an indication they aren't going to draft a center in the first round.

    Nope.

Tomlin and Kahn both have to be there for him to be considered. That said, I still woupdnt rule it out but it is highly unlikely. Remember that David DeCastro had both Tomlin and Colbert at his.

Now, should the Steelers do elect to select JPJ in Round One?!.... that is going to buck a lot of trends.

    Assuming he makes it there.

For that matter, I would elect to name Seattle as a viable trading partner to select him as well.... assuming Cincy doesnt elect to move up that is.

Maybe they don't consider him a first round player, they could have interest in him the second round if he drops, Pat Meyer was there for a reason.

Who have you seen after Kool-aid that's an option? Kool-aid would be a #1 and lead at breaking up passes.

I wouldn't draft a CB in the first round that's dealing with an injury, I would take Quinyon Mitchell at #20.

    True.

That said, position based Coaches usually do get their players in the later rounds. Granted, Joey Porter Jr had Gary Brown there in 2023. That said though, Andy Weidl and Teryl Austin were there as well.

There has to be a heavy prescene for that player to be considered within the top three. Heck, looking back to the 2022 Draft Class, Goerge Pickens had literally everyone there at his!!.... though it was later revealed at the 2023 Steelers Post Draft Conference that Broderick Jones was someone that would catch their attention within a year from 2022.

Again, not disagreeing with you that JPJ isnt worth a first; he is a Top 15 Pick imo. History though sadly isnt on his side.

NFL Draft Buzz has Kool Aid ranked the #5 CB behind Dejean, Wiggins, Mitchell and Arnold. PFF has Kool Aid ranked #4.

    A) Tomlin and Khan weren't in Oregon the last two days because they were signing Patrick Queen, a punter, and trading Dionte Johnson. For this week, at least, free agency takes a back seat to the draft.
    B) I love Mims, but- 1) he has 8 starts, and got hurt. 2) He got himself back for the SEC Championship game, and got hurt. 3) He did well at the combine, until he - wait for it - got hurt. High floor, higher ceiling, but the best ability is availability.

My point is I don't think the cap ever went up by thirty million when Colbert was the GM, that allows you to make bigger moves in free agency.

Have no problem with him, along with 1 or 2 other OTs, 3-4 CBs, 2 Cs, and a couple of WRs.

I Read they are bringing Mason Rudolph back to be he team's #1 WR.

Russell Wilson has to be pissed about the Steelers trading away one of the teams top WRs for a CB. I guess he hasn't officially signed yet, maybe he can back out now with all the holes this team has on offense now.

Typical Steelers thinking, Trade away players on offense to bring in players on Defense. Right now the cost of this defense has to be way up from last year compared to the offense. 1 vet minimum player signed on offense, and 2 over $10million players on Defense.

I'd still draft Mims all that said. Why?!

He has the luxury of not starting right away. Mims' sheer talent alone would permit him to be used as a swing tackle to start out his career. Given how that is how the team handled Broderick Jones... I'd suspect the same likely will be done fir Mims... assuming he is the target of course.

I saw something about that. Tough for him but not the worse thing for the Steelers.

Want to go on record saying I don’t want to sign Detroit WR Reynolds, which I read as an option, to replace DJ

In the NFCCG alone he didn’t make the 4th down catch. I agree it was a tough catch, but then he was shown on sidelines showing how he had to reach back to make the catch…don’t like excuses. Later, which was mostly overlooked, he dropped a 3rd down throw in his bread basket which would have been a big gain and iced the game.

I know it was only a 1 game sample, but it was a huge game and he failed.
