Except Pickett wasn't Kahn's pick. Lots of GMs that inherit a QB jettison them if they don't look promising. And you have to admit Pickett doesn't look promising thus far.

I agree, I‘ve made that same point in the past but flys in the face of everything he has been saying in recent weeks but that could just be a lot of misdirection.

I’ve responded to the Duck Hodges fallacy too many times to count on this board and won’t do it again. I’m sure you can find it if you do a search. Bottom line is this, the Steelers screwed up the development of Mason Rudolph and they may be getting ready to do the same with Kenny Pickett. Mike Tomlin does not know how to develop young quarterbacks! I said when we drafted Pickett that that was one of my concerns about him coming here, especially considering we had Matt Canada as the OC.

Especially when your boss says he hasn’t played competently and is holding the team back.

Pickett was probably the best option in the draft. Howell and Ridder were probably the other two I would have considered. Ridder has performed about the same as Pickett and now has lost his starting job. Howell has thrown for a lot more yards and TD's but has had issues with turning it over... hard to tell if its because he's bad or if its because his team is bad. I would put him slightly ahead of Pickett now, but I don't think he's a great option either. Willis was essentially un-draftable. I figured he'd be lucky to be in the league at the end of his rookie contract and that looks to be correct. Corral was the other "top" option and it appears that his injury history struck again in the league and he is now on the Patriots. He hasn't played any games and its safe to say Pickett is better than him.

    Howell
    Ridder/Pickett
    Corral
    Willis

This is probably how is its right now. I'd have Howell out in front and essentially a "pick 'em" between Pickett and Ridder. I'd personally have Ridder by a hair, but it doesn't matter. Neither of those dudes are starting material in the NFL.

I am fine that we took a swing at Pickett. He has enough tools to be an effective QB at the NFL level if he put it together, he just never did. If you don't have the cannon and you don't have the rushing ability, you have to be really good at processing. He can't process at a high enough level, so he's toast IMO. Bridge the gap with Mason or Wilson and try again when we think we have the right guy.

Rudolph is gone now. No way he settles for 3rd string unless no other team offers him anything.

"Mason Rudolph, came in and showed, I think, what we're capable of when we do get quality play at the quarterback position....But yeah, I think we have a core group of players that ... we can compete with this group. And as I said, I think the biggest thing we need is quality play at the quarterback position."

Mason will be an NFL OC or maybe HC one day. But should be able to bounce around few more years as backup. Lots of new offenses to learn and different styles will be good for him. Sucks he didnt get a better chance last 2 seasons. T doesnt like him Im convinced,

Probably so. He wasn't offered anything from anywhere else last season... but he definitely showed he was an NFL QB the last few games of the season this past year. He will sign on somewhere. Heck, maybe we tell him he can be the back up to Wilson here. Idk. Seems unlikely haha

As a wild guess the Raiders sign him . He gets a few solid starts and secures another contract. Turns out Mason can play, maybe like when Pirates traded Bautista. WTF everyone thinks but T is never asked about it. Thinking about baseball... woohoo!

Sean Payton will sign him in Denver and he’ll lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl.

I think MR could have productive FA period compared to last year, Falcons, Panthers, Raiders, Tampa all look like they need a QB.

Mason tried to get into the Steelers facility but his code doesn't work anymore. Another FU to Mason...

I don't think Tampa Bay needs a starter now that they've signed Baker Mayfield to a new deal.
