Do you seriously think Coaches and Ben would agree to him being a back up. He still had a winning record, even though he might have been a shell of his previous shelf..

Most draft publication I saw had him as a third rounder.

    Most had #1 overall

    LOL for that position
    Yep, 3rd rd. a couple had " day 2"
others said "maybe a good NFL starter after 2 years"
    Well, it's that time.

All, said he has pocket poise issues and after 7 years in college playing that should not be the case
FFS after 2 years pro he's seeing the same ghost from fkn first college year.

This goes back to the dubious assumption that Pickett would have fallen to the second round or even further if the Steelers hadn't taken him. That is based on where the other quarterbacks in the draft went, which makes no sense.

I find it funny that You gave up on Mason after 13 starts, 8-4-1 record ,19tds, and 11 ints, but You haven't seen enough of KFP (who You still have faith in) with 24 starts, 14-10 record 13tds, and 13ints. I haven't given up on either, but somehow You have on Mason, but not KFP....Care to explain?

How can it not be about Ben when Ben was on the team. They weren't going to pay Ben(a 1st ballot HOF Qb)all that money to bench Him for anyone on the team as long as He was healthy. You know this, I know this, and everyone on this board knows this if they are being truthful. No way any Qb would have taken Ben's place as long as He could get out there, and play. That's why all this why didn't Mason show us anything during that time is very dishonest. ? Example:
Why Didn't A. Rodgers show anything all the years He sat behind B. Farve????

The part you keep leaving out of that is that Rudolph's starts were spread out over six years and Pickett's only two. Also, Pickett was the only one saddled with Matt Canada as his OC for his entire career. Given the immediate change when he was fired, that seems to be a factor worth considering. Factors like poor coaching, erratic play at center, and receivers who often give up on plays too early are going to affect a quarterback in his first or second season more than they will one in his fifth and sixth seasons.

I think we've seen Rudolph's ceiling and it's not good enough to be more than a very good backup/bridge to the next franchise guy. I don't think we have seen Pickett's ceiling yet.

Did you see Mason push Ben R during his 4 years he was behind Ben?
Did you Notice improvement in his play when he was given a chance when Ben got hurt?
Why did MT and other coaches insert Duck Hodges?

Again No Qb was taking Ben's place if He could play. I already answered that, and You know this is true.

How do we know he didn't? We don't know what he showed the Packers in practices and meetings. They saw enough that they still trusted him to be their franchise guy when Favre did move on just as they did with Love while he sat behind Rodgers.

We can only guess what Rudolph showed the Steelers outside of the games he played in during those first four seasons, but their actions tell us they weren't impressed. If they were impressed, they wouldn't have kept Haskins, signed Trubisky, and drafted Pickett. If they were impressed, they would have re-signed Rudolph instead of extending Trubisky. Aren't those fair assumptions?

I'm not leaving out a damn thing. If people say they are freaking Steelers fans they know this....if they don't know this they have no business replying on something they don't know. How ever You want to spin it.....the facts are the facts. I unlike You don't care which one gets better, and I hope they are both great as long as they have on the Black, and Gold. See unlike some....I don't have to down one over the other....because I sat on here for years saying one sucks like You did.

Well we know He sat for 3 years, and only Bret retirement for the 1st time got Him a start. You dang well know no Qb was taking Ben job while He was on this team , and ....to say anything else is dishonest.

You can draw that conclusion just by the fact that every QB needy team passed on him before pick 20, some teams more than once.

Right now, it looks like those teams evaluation of him was correct. Pickett will get one more opportunity (maybe) to prove that false.

Do you really think Mike Tomlin was going to bench Ben for Rudolph? Ben could have been confined to a wheelchair and Tomlin would have wheeled him out there to start. As long as Ben wanted to play, he was going to play. It’s laughable that there are those on this board who keep bringing up the fact that Ben was a shell of his former self so why couldn’t Mason beat him out? Tomlin was never going to replace a living Steeler legend with MR.

I think the fairest assumption is that the Steelers coaching staff is woefully inadequate when it comes to evaluating quarterback play. Tomlin committed coaching malpractice by retaining Matt Canada as THE GUY to develop Kenny Pickett. And any development by Rudolph seemed to come of his own initiative with his off-season training regimen.

Did you see MR improve the 3 years he sat behind Ben, when Ben got hurt he got his chance and MT and coaching staff
    replaced him with Duck Hodges.
