Why is it wrong? We are looking at a guy who is going to start somewhere in the league next season in Wilson. If he signs here, he's starting here.

Wrong. Quit with the exaggeration. Most people here are merely stating that he is a better option than Pickett. Some Pickett fans consider saying Mason is better than Pickett means Mason is as good as Brady. Pickett wouldn't even have been drafted by Steelers if he wasn't at Pitt. Rooneys probably didn't want to chance a Marino situation again.

Apparently he has to win the job. If thats not acceptable to him, he won’t sign here.

I doubt any of those guys are signing on to compete for the backup job, either.

Read some of the hyperbole on this board about Rudolph. It isn't just because y'all are saying Rudolph is better than Pickett.

I disagree with him having to win the job and I’m calling :bscow: on all of the Xtweets (or whatever the f they’re called these days) by fake insiders suggesting that the Steelers see Wilson as a backup or mentor to KP. The Steelers didn’t bring Wilson in to compete with KP, and certainly not to back up KP.

I’m not really excited about the prospect of Wilson coming here, but if there is a situation where he can be rejuvenated this is it. If it happens I’ll be hopeful.

Curious since I don't follow College ball, was Pickett the cats meow coming out of Pitt?? (I root for Pitt, homer reasons but don't follow) If a team needed a QB was he the best bet out there draft day??

It was a terrible draft for QB’s but he was supposedly the best of the bunch. The question at the time was did the Steelers know something the rest of the league didn’t just because of their closeness to Pitt or was the league right. Looking like the later.

Go through these posts 3/4 of the posters think MR is the next best thing since sliced bread. I think they have selective memory when Ben was injured and MR was next up, was replaced by Duck Hodges after a few games. He never pushed Ben for starting time even though Ben was a shadow of his early years. As far as draft goes the Steelers had a need at QB position and
selected top rated QB of that year. IF KFP doesn't work out they are out 14 million dollars over
three years if they choose not to extend him. KFP was ACC player of the year his senior season and finished 3rd in heisman voting. The Steelers practice at same facility as Pitt does here in PGH, they should know everything they needed to know when they drafted him.

I think they have selective memories. I was elated to see MR played well the last 4 games. But after 5.5 seasons before
why didn't he show us something in that time? As I stated Ben was a shell of himself, were was MR in this time?

7 years at Pitt and peaked at collegiate level of play. No upside coming out of school was the analysis before draft.
    Colbert screwed the team. UGH

Exactly, when you have a very experienced football talent evaluator
Practicing next door. The Steelers knew everything the needed to know. Some times things don't work out, like most posters debate on this site transition from college to
pro level is a crap shoot?

    Sources Tell Us

"Is he the next (Joe) Burrow or Kyler (Murray), who were early picks after being one-year wonders? Some team will try and make that connection and will overdraft him. That's a lock." -- Personnel director for AFC team

    go read the draft analysis
all say happy feet pocket poise issues
1 hit wonder after years and years of starting

    Colbert FKD the team

I agree it is a crap shoot . Some here say certain positions are easy to a sure thing in the transition although there is no agreement on which positions they are.lol

Who's the very experienced football talent evaluator?
There are threads and post here talking about How bad the team has missed on entire drafts in the recent years except for 2023.
The evaluator? That is an obvious need the team should fill.

I always believed, and still believe that Sam Howell is the best of the bunch from the 2022 draft. Maybe Purdy is, but we’ve only seen him in a perfect situation for a QB and Howell in a terrible situation for a QB.

And nowhere did this say no upside

And he wasn’t over drafted he was drafted where projected

Overdrafted would have been top 10 or so
