I don't only watch Steelers games, I watch some other football. I only watched a few Chargers games, but Herbert is impressive.

A pretty good assessment. Herbert's biggest issue is that it always comes down to him just carrying his team. He plays for a bottom tier organization and the horrific mismanagement of that roster and coaching staff is tough to watch. He's not perfect, but Herbert is a great player. QB's don't get the recognition without postseason success, but I think he's as good as anybody in the league not named Mahomes.

*puke* I hate Jim Harbaugh lol even more than his brother....

But your point is correct. He's been successful everywhere he's been, and it is hard to imagine him being unsuccessful in a situation when he has a QB like Herbert at his disposal.

We rolled with Pickett and Rudolph last year and were a playoff team. That assessment is just factually false. We would have a bottom 5 QB situation in the AFC, but our team as a whole is pretty good.

Herbert hasn't done anything in the playoffs (he plays for the Chargers), but his resume is far from Mac Jones. He's an incredibly good player. I would be surprised to see him not have success if the Chargers finally get run like a competent NFL organization for a change.

I can't see them signing both Rudolph and Tannehill. That makes no sense.

If they only sign Tannehill, to me, that means they are committed to starting Pickett. Tannehill was a decent quarterback five years ago, but he was terrible this past season and he missed big chunks of time the last two years.

LOL No. They really don't. Jones is a lot worse in just about every measure. Herbert was disappointing in 2023, but he was still better than any season Jones has had in the NFL. It's not close.

Too many. He had a rough year, but are we making clutch performance at the end of games the most important thing now?

If so then everyone should be on the Kenny Pickett bandwagon.

I've always given Him props for it. It's not a easy thing to be at Your best in the most crucial time of the game. I've seen many a good player not be great because they couldn't do it.

For a guy who is considered a top 10 QB Herbert has a losing record in the NFL.

Since we’re talking about Herbert, I do remember in a key Chargers loss last year (I think it was vs. Detroit) they were trailing at the end in a one possession game and Herbert made the throws to get them into position to score but his receivers made some really bad drops - including All Pro Keenan Allen of all people. I still think Herbert needs to play better in clutch situations, but it’s not always on him.

The shelf life for most NFL players is about 10 years, QB's might
Eke out a couple more years. This is why you
don't see Steelers do third contracts unless your Ben R.
I would say Wilson and Tannehill are on decline. So I hope Steelers don't over pay
    For either one of them.

He's close to top 5 imo. He's a fantastic player. Pickett might not have a plural amount of wins if he had to play on Herbert's Chargers teams.

    Error on sentence one

The average length of a player's career in the National Football League (NFL) is relatively short, with the average career lasting around 3.3 years.

Ok say a player is lucky enough for a ten year career. They are spent, lets not spend good money on players declining.

Cowherd is off. We were handicapped with Canada. This year if we roll with KP and Mason we have a better OC behind them, probably better O line play and a shored up defense. The equalizer will be a tougher schedule so I think we’ll be in near the same spot as last year.

Hold on my friend. You "me like" to either Pickett or Mason being our starter game 1. Ytownsteeler made a point I agree with about that. He said nothing about Fields.

You are correct but most forget each team has 53 players and most are unheard of. When we think of longer careers it's the big names that come to mind. Mostly QB's. If you look at rosters of teams in NFL there are more then a few players in the 6-7 year range.

Don't act like the Chargers don't have a talented roster.
