I have to wonder what makes you think Najee will be a nuisance. So far he has pretty much been a model citizen. I haven’t heard of one instance that he has been a problem.

i think he has in his mind that he is a #1, and that he should get #1 blockbuster money. I HOPE I AM WRONG. If we can get he and Warren on nice long term, fair market deals - that would be great. Just have my doubts.

    We agree

I agree with probably most of your posts if they are accurate and have real thoughts

Najee started making related noise when Saquon Barkley wanted a big contract and in general that running back contracts needed to start getting a bigger slice of the pie in general

If he was chirping for someone else I can just imagine what he will do for himself

I tend to agree, I don't think either is worth a huge money extension. Freiermuth has been hurt a lot and really been limited by our QB play, so he hasn't looked fantastic. Harris is fine, but does bring some locker room leadership that we desperately need on the offensive side of the ball. Also RB's shelf life is short as you noted, so I wouldn't want to be paying him as his game falls off. Couple of tough decisions for sure

I think it depends. I'm more in the give Najee the 5th year option and sign Freiermuth yo an extension. Good receiving TEs can be hard to come by. Also I don't think he was used right.

If i'm QB i'm looking for him over the middle

I was really hoping the Steelers were going to bring in Jonnu Smith, because of his Arthur Smith connections, to give the Steelers a 2nd pass catching TE, that was a bit of an upgrade in the blocking department.

I will put a case of beer on saying.....I bet Najee doesn't give even half the problem of resigning as Bell did.

hope you are right - he and Warren for 4-6 more years , what a tandem they could be ( love to lock them both up for a while, at fair contracts....)

The more I think about it I don’t think it is a good idea to pick up the option. Have you seen the quality of options at RB this year in FA? Teams are just not willing to pay for that position. As much as I like Najee its more about the position and being prudent in not overspending for it. The thing is he will probably light it up this year too under the new offense and playing for a contract.

I would not extend Muth unless it was for a relatively inexpensive amount. He's too one dimensional, major liability in the running game.

Defiantly not Harris. Aside from very few, running backs are a dime a dozen and he isn't one of the very few.

I think your probably right. However I think we will extend Najee because I think Tomlin likes him and we tend to be loyal. Sometimes that loyalty in the football can come back to bite you.

that is part of why I am asking 'why the rush' - let's play out 2024 and see what happens.

if he lights it up, that 5th yr option is cheap.

OC's don't decide where the football is distributed.

The Steelers should attempt to extend both players within financial reason.

Wrong. You must be a young buck. At the NFL level the QB decides where the football is distributed (based on the defensive coverage, extending plays, ect.). Highschool or College I agree with you.

Mahommes is so lethal because he EXECUTES plays inside play designs but probably MOSTLY executes outside of play designs.

incorrect on several fronts - they (OC's) design and call plays and TEACH DUMMIES like KP to throw to the TE. They have heavy influence - how about that?

MOST QB's in this league get it - Kenny does not see the field, he is a one read, then duck and run QB right now. IF he ever learns, 88 will be a better TE.....

Game planning and coaching matters. He sucked as an OC and Steelers agreed.

I never said coaching and game planning doesn't matter. Game planning and coaching is easy. The Steelers didn't get it right with the QB position.

Players win games bro. Hire and pay all the great coaches you like. Without the players........

This actually played out NFL history. Coaches are generally only as good as the players they coach. Execution on game day. The other players get paid too. But...

Yes, thats why Muth had 120 yards in the first game without Canada, guess that wasn’t Kenny throwing to him.

OC’s decide how much TE’s are involved in the game plan, for instance they used 13 personnel about 10 times in that game whereas they only did that many times all year under Canada. Bro.
