Pickett v. Rudolph or Pickett v. Tannehill. No Fields. No Wilson. No Cousins. No anyone else. I'm OK with that.

Glad we are out of the Fields competition. He was not the answer. Just sign Mason and give him the job because he at least can throw the ball with some accuracy while Pickett might have the worst stats in the history of qbs.

So what piece of highly accurate information do you have to confirm this

And how does it trump all of the other highly accurate information that we are in the Fields competition

I like how Jeff Saturday explains why Wilson will be a success in Pittsburgh.

“Russell Wilson for Arthur Smith would be the best fit and because he wants to play under center,” Saturday said to the rest of the panel on ESPN’s Get Up on February 1. “He wants play action. He’s a veteran quarterback. All the different things.

If the Steelers can sign Russell for $1.2 million, I will gladly help Russell Wilson move from Colorado to Pittsburgh. :)

Russell Wilson is going to make $35.4 million this year. It doesn't matter who he's playing for. He could sign with us for vet minimum and still make $35.4 million. Broncos aren't going to find a trade partner for him at that price, so their only option is to cut him post-June 1, because if it's pre-June 1 his cap hit for this year is $84 million.

    well, maybe

Mason can move the ball and score points, that much, we saw in a small sampling

that is IF he signs here.

the rest of the chatter is just that - CHATTER.

no one else has been traded or ink'd anywhere yet.....

The last three games of the season were not a tough watch at all. I rather enjoyed watching an offense with a quarterback who seemed to know how to run the offense and how to utilize his receiving corps. I had almost forgotten what that looked like with Kenny and Mitch behind center. Now THAT was painful to watch.

why don't we wait until the league season and the draft happens before we throw in the towel on the season already. maybe we break the 72 dolfish record. maybe we flop. maybe we are somewhere in between. has ben been training? maybe farve wants to comeback one more time. tom tom may be available. oh the rumors.

Would NE consider trading #3 to us. And what would it take? I would imagine it would be more costly for an AFC team to get that pick than an NFC team.

The more realistic option is trading up for McCarthy.

Personally, I want a franchise QB or for this team to bottom out. We are stuck in purgatory and it's no fun. 9-8 every year while praying we can upset a team in the WC round.

Let see..... Fields has been a starting qb in a average division in the weak NFC and his wonderful record is 10-28. His 4th quarter is horrific and his accuracy blows. 60% completion rate does not cut it in todays nfl. @ REALLY important stats and information you need to know about a qb. He is not lamar fast to run his way to wins as we can see by this awesome 10-28 record.

That’s a lot of words to not actually answer the question

So I will assume you were just tossing out an opinion and not an actual verifiable fact and since this is a message board that is perfectly acceptable

I guess winning per centage for a qb and hid completion per cent don't matter in deciding whether you should pursue a trade for a starting qb. What information do you look at. His eye color.

They just need to schedule 17 games against defenses that are either terrible or benching three or four starters and they are golden!

I don't want R. Wilson because He's a bandaid....., and we would have no future with Him but for cheap ....they would be foolish not to bring Him in. JMO

Yeah because We know KFP only faced top5 Defense somehow.... without any injuries ....in His 24 starts that is why He only has 13 tds to go along with 13 ints.....all them top 5 Ds.

There is a lot of ground between top-five defenses and horrible ones like the Bengals and Seahawks. It isn't easy to gauge how the version of the Ravens Rudolph faced fits in Week 17 given that they sat three starters, pulled others as the game went on, and played vanilla defenses because they didn't need the game. One of Baltimore's greatest strengths is their ability to disguise their defenses. How much of that do you think they did that in a meaningless game?

Harping on the 13 interceptions is overly simplistic and misleading. Pickett threw eight interceptions in his first five starts when the Steelers made the idiotic decision to try to have him carry the offense as a rookie. Since then, he has five interceptions in 19 starts. The team insisted that he take care of the ball in 2023 and he did that. Unfortunately, forcing him to play that way took away his aggressiveness.

If Rudolph can stand in the pocket and make throws, he can be decent. Better defenses aren't going to make it that easy on him.

I don't think the current version of either guy is good enough to make the Steelers a real contender. The difference is that Rudolph is six years in. He is what he is. It is far from a sure thing, but with competent coaching, Pickett could still get better.
