We're hearing about them having interest in CB L'Jarius Sneed, trading for Justin Fields, or trading away Diontae Johnson. Where's there's smoke there's fire.

I’d be happy if we just re-signed Mason Rudolph and then filled in where needed with free agents and draft picks.

Im sorry, Mason just doesn’t do it for me. Yes he played well in his last 3 games, but he isnt the answer.
Saying that, most of the team wants him back. Resign Mason and Im going to take flack here, sign Tannehill, if anything he can help the other 2 qbs with Smith’s system, as he knows it.

After the season ended Art ll talked about they were tired of not winning in the playoffs, re-signing Mason doesn't change any of that.

Point me in the direction to where someone is actually quoting someone from the Steelers about trading away Johnson.

What smoke??? Every article starts off saying the "Steelers have not said that Johnson is on the trade block, but...."

Johnson signed his short 2 year 2nd contract, so he would be able to sign a new contract at the age of 29 and not 31. To me this was a smart deal for both the Steelers and Johnson. This years Cap hit for Johnson actually decreases from $16 million to $15 million. I look for Johnson to play out his contract this year, hoping that a new OC, will get him his numbers, so he can sign a mega contract next year at age 28/29. (Johnson turn 28 in July this year)

Snead is going to be a "tag and trade" by the Chiefs, so besides the huge contract he's going to want, it's going to cost us serious draft capital, which we really can't spare. Maybe if we can trade Dionte for him, it would work.

I think the Steelers offense can function very efficiently with Mason under center and they can win a lot of games with him. Of course, if he does re-sign, him playing will depend on whether or not Kenny falters. Honestly, none of the quarterbacks the Steelers have been linked to do anything for me and I’d prefer Mason over most all of them.

Maybe Diontae asked for a contract extension, and it could be that they're not willing to meet his demands.

Fields is a more dynamic player, with considerably more upside than Mason .

And it is all based on that TonyPauline article where he says "Steelers have not said that Johnson is on the trade block, but...."

If you have no actual facts, Why not just say that TJ Watt is on the trade block for even bigger headlines?

I don't think DJ wants an extension after his last 2 years; DJ needs a big year this year so he can sign that Mega Deal next year as a Free Agent. 2023's 51 receptions for 717 yards is not going to get DJ the money he wants.

If they make a splash move we won’t know about it beforehand. When you look past the headlines there are no credible sources to back up any of the rumours that the media are putting out.

I can’t see them buying high on Snead, you’d have to trade at least a second and then pay him. They already have some very expensive players on D and will need to take their chances in the draft IMO.

I think this offseason will be about using free agency to try to fill the holes in the secondary and then try to repeat what they did last year in the draft as far as possible, adding another two starters.

They are trying to rebuild the roster after years of bad drafting and have too many needs to blow all their resources on a splash move.

At the end,it will not matter if this is the case or not,it will be a another 9-8 or 10-7 season with some lucky break no matter what. The question is if it will be enough to be in the 7th seed or not. This is the standard

The Steelers are never going to tip their hand.
I have heard some rumors of trading DJ, it would not hurt my feelings. But they have to find someone as good or better....
Signing Mason is a yawner... status quo.
You want to make a splash, wind up with one of the top 4 QB in the draft.
Fields does nothing for me... maybe ignites a dumpster fire.

I think we should be bold . IMO we should trade DJ and Harris we need a home run hi
tter at the RB spot .. Fields running one way and a speedy RB the other would make the Offense 10 times the threat to make splash plays.. this means more chances to score..

Not this time he to slow .lol We need more speed to stretch the D and force teams to play more in the box this will allow more 1 on 1 outside and we have a WR who is a beast if guarded that way.. Add another 1 for the other side and then we can compete...

When you see the phrases "It has been reported..", "sources close to the Steelers say..." and the like, you can be pretty sure it's :poopy:.

Today Mike DeFabo is reporting that all the other reports (Fields, Wilson, Cousins, and Mayfield) are wrong. Sometimes when there's smoke it's just someone blowing it out their arse.
