I still can't believe they rewarded a player for disappearing at the end of the season, Garrett with only one sack in the last 6-7 games .

10, 20 or 30 years ago TJ wins DPOY and it’s not even close. These people voting on false analytics are really diluting the game and the officiating is even worse for the sport. Yes TJ they are really subduing your legacy and that is a damn shame!

It's evident to anyone with a little football knowledge he was the one that deserved to win. That being said I kinda wish he would let it go and just let the byproduct of his anger translate onto the field in a big way. Hopefully that's what will happen. It's like a ufc or boxing match. You don't ever want to leave it in the judges hands.

Guy hasnt won a playoff game in his career but he’s all worked up about this award. I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it but honestly who cares win a meaningful game in January. Be a champion.

Same stuff used to happen to the Silverback too and it drove me nuts. He was held almost all the time like tj.

TJ plays hard but if he wants to go down as a Steeler great he needs to start showing up big in a playoff game. Right now he’s just a great regular season performer.

I tend to agree. Most people that are honest with themselves know tj was the best defender in football last year. But kinda like tomlin said about Parker all those years ago that when he walks in the door he's not looking at 6 rushing titles in the lobby it's Lombardi's that matter. Tj will cement himself as one of the greats of alltime if he can stay healthy and playing at a high level. His numbers don't lie and he's well rounded as heck. Was pumped when they drafted him and he's far exceeded what I thought he was capable of doing, i thought he'd be good but didnt foresee him hitting this level. Once he's in the top 10 or 5 in sacks forced fumbles and other areas it will be remembered that he got screwed by many. Just got to get him a Lombardi before he retires.

An award that I believe has steered clear from false analytics over the years.

Agree, as does Cam and Minkah.
Big money bowing out too early.

    Buffalo game
    Yes TJ nursin wounds
Cam winded after 3 plays on defense on the sidelines
Minkah back playing and playing like shat. I believe he should have relieved players because it seemed like the secondary was clicking in the previous games he was out. Playing him that game was bad idea.

Pressures has been used for a while. It is win rate that really bugs me. Even if the defender gets nowhere near the quarterback, they get a win if they beat their guy. It is nonsense.

King said a big factor in Garrett's behavior was that he was part of a great defense, which is also crap. It isn't a team award.

How dare he not keep Adams from colliding with him and causing that injury!

Seriously, I know you like to be negative, but this is nonsensical even by your standards. Watt had no control over the circumstance that kept him out of the playoff game. He can't do anything about it now but work toward next season. Making a few comments in interviews isn't going to keep him from doing that.

BLAME TOMLIN KENNY (and Mitch) and CANADA

they SUCKED for 12 games and WORE THIS D out the first half of the season

go look at T.O.P. - look at how many snaps they had to play, thanks to Kenny's lovely 3 and 0uts (worst 2 or 3 in the league) and zero points for so many first halves.

the O failed this D miserably this year.

PS - playing Minkah was not a bad idea. it was the BUFFALO BILLS! STRONG and HOT in December. It was the PLAYOFFS. we barely SNUCK IN. it is what we do these days - sneak in. No longer are we a talked about as a a force in the league. it is the new Pittsburgh Steelers, the Mike Tomlin Steelers, the way Rooney likes it....

Those 32 more seconds per game really ruined the defense. lol

Time of possession was skewed by the first two games, when it was only 22:37 against the 49ers and 24:32 in the victory over the Browns. Now if you want to claim that those two games just ruined them for the rest of the season, go ahead and try to sell that idea, but it doesn't hold up. The biggest injury during the first half of the season actually happened before the games started. Cam Heyward hurt his groin early in training camp. He made it a lot worst in the first quarter against the 49ers.

Did those two games weeks earlier cause Minkah Fitzpatrick to take an awkward step on a messy field against the Jaguars? Did it cause Kwon Alexander's torn Achilles tendon? Did it make Keanu Neal run into Cole Holcomb's knee? Was that why Montravius Adams collided with T.J. Watt's knee in the final game of the season? Or is this just folks trying to make Pickett, Trubisky, and Canada the scapegoats for all of the teams ills?

    maybe

MORE SNAPS means more OPPS for injuries

this O SUCKED and it hurt the D - go look at it, week by week, game by game. (TOP) it is clear as day.

it is WHY teams don't play their starters in pre-season, even you can understand that

and yes - they are the scapegoats - with King Tomlin at the top

I can even see that as a separation point from others when determining the vote, but only after seeing other viable data and stats, included as someone else posted the number of times TJ (or others) go into coverage. It just seems to me that one 'stat' was used as the most important point, as opposed to one point needing eval on several other positioning schemes.

This might make sense if I was only talking about last year. Unfortunately I am not, I’m talking about him not winning a playoff game in his entire CAREER.

It’s a team game and there are 52 other players dressed on game days. Your post might make more sense if you were talking about a tennis player.
