Cole's poor play was an underrated factor in the team's troubles at quarterback. It was obvious in the loss to the Cardinals, but the poor snaps disrupt timing and the pressure up the middle is one reason Pickett bailed so often.

Funny, didn't seem to bother Mason Rudolph, who was the leagues highest rated QB in the last 4 weeks taking snaps behind Mason Cole. Mason Cole = 100% of Steelers Snaps last year.

Get that Blame Mason Cole for Kenny's problems Bullsh!t out of here. Kenny's problems have nothing to do with Mason Cole. I have no problem with blaming Matt Canda for Kenny's problems the last 2 years.

Now watch Mason Cole pull a Kevin Dotson and be a Top 10 center in the league away from Steelers O-Line coach Pat Meyer.

    So

Are you suggesting they should of kept Cole as a starter at his current salary

Or are you suggesting they should have over paid for him as a back up

    Or are you randomly babbling

Rudolph has the opposite problem from Pickett. He stands in there even when he shouldn't. We saw some good examples of that against the Ravens. After six seasons, he still hasn't made much progress in that area.

Pickett is earlier in his development as a pro than Rudolph. He is still learning to make better decisions whether to stand in the pocket or bail. That is why it matters more that he couldn't trust his center.

Try harder to follow the argument next time.

It did bother Mason. Cole went through a stretch where he was getting those snaps back better, but every time he screwed it up, you saw the same things happening for the offense. The playoff game stunk for him and we saw how that affects the QB.

Snaps matter, look at what could have been the game winner for the Chiefs in the SB! Wide open possible TD in the closing seconds, but the snap was rolled back to Mahomes and he had no time to find him.

Agreed, Creed Humphrey had a horrible game in the Super Bowl.

To me a franchise type center should be first priority in the Draft.

Right Tackle, Corner, Receiver. Defensive Line after that.

I am hoping they move Jones to the left side where he belongs. Moore is a liability in pass protection. And the rumor is he is not comfortable playing the right side. And he is in the last year of a contract. He can be a back up. They will get a right tackle in the draft and FA.

The Defensive Line will almost remain the same. Adams is a FA who they might bring back. Larry O, Heyward and Benton will be the starters. The issue is what to do with Leal and Louderskimmilk. Both have been disappointments. Leal is in his 3rd season and costs very little. Hopefully he can turn it around. Same goes for Louderskimmilk They will add a FA and a draft pick late.

I wasn't sure if you were kidding or not. Do you think Steelers fans could figure out that the Steelers desperately needed an upgrade at center even before Cole was cut, but the rest of the league was oblivious to that fact?

I’m not sure the rest of the league cares if we need a center

Right now they care about what they need

In the grand scheme of things that’s peanuts. Clearly the front office has a plan, but it seems to me they’re playing with fire. Cole had a terrible year, but now we have nobody at center. So the Steelers are gambling that someone they covet will sign with them as a free agent or whomever they draft will be an upgrade and immediate starter. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush seems apropos here

Ryan McCollum is the current Center on the roster, with no primary backup.

The league cares because part of the draft is having at least some idea what other teams want, too.

I haven't seen one mocking a safety or inside linebacker to the Steelers. I've seen quarterback, tackle, cornerback, and center.

The dumbest is the one that had the Steelers trading up to nine to take McCarthy with the Bears taking Powers-Johnson at 20 with the pick they got from Pittsburgh. That would be incredibly stupid.

We have nobody to play center. A career practice squad player won’t cut it

I have never watched McCarthy and thought “1st round talent.”

I tend to think that’s highly unlikely. No two scouts or scouting departments will view players in the same light. Trying to guess how each team ranks players is an exercise in futility. In addition to that it’s been fairly well documented the Steelers develop their big board and don’t worry about what others teams are doing. Since Colbert is no longer running the show that could have changed, but I doubt it
