That’s a surprising move

 

A bit of a surprise. I thought they would keep him for depth if nothing else. Maybe he was told that the team would be pursuing another starting center in the off-season and they released him ahead of free agency to give him an opportunity to sign somewhere else.

 

Good news. He was ok the year before but was terrible last season.

 

The only way to get better is to let go of the players holding you back.

Semalu and Jones are solid members of the line. All others could use an upgrade. Maybe a new center, a new leader, will make the other remnants better.

 

As does the field!

Those two weekass ankles in the qb room???

 

This move begs the question who are they signing?

 

Brian Allen was released from the Rams this week

 

I doubt they want to pay him what he was making to be a backup, they freed up 4.75 million by cutting him.

 

Would prefer cushenberry from the broncos

Those beat writers seem to be wrong quite a bit, Kaboly after the season ended said he thought Trubisky would be on the team next season.

 

At least it shows someone is serious trying to get things correct. Its not surprising they cut Mitch, but the rotund punter and Cole getting released without the 'we will bring in competition for the job' line is refreshing. I have no idea how the internal convos go, but Omar seems to be serious about wanting change...let's go!

 

Also heard Dale Lolley recently mocking steelers fans that thought Cole was going to be cut

They are guessing most of the time just like the fans

 

Cole had to go really, his play was too far below the line to keep him.

I thought they’d keep him until after the draft but I guess they’d seen enough and they will almost certainly go after a free agent now, which makes sense. It should be one of the cheaper / easier positions to fill in free agency along with Safety.

Yes of course. I listen to the Drive sometimes and I find Lolleys arrogance and condescending tone kind of amusing. He is wrong more than he is right yet continues to look down his nose at fans.

 

That makes sense, would make the draft picks seem more pointed in one direction, but with Andy and his love for the lines you really never know, lol.
