He lost the job to Mason Rudolph. He was injured but when he regained his health he was not reinstated as the starter. To me, that’s losing your job. He lost his job because Mason did have the hot hand and Kenny struggled throughout much of the season. I know, I know Tomlin persisted in saying that Pickett was QB1. Whatever.

We can go back to when He started....You said it was (not exact words) lucky, and then you said we would see on the next game, and then the next game, and You kept moving it to the next game. So ....Ok.

This is the main problem....We might not even get a full year out of him, and from what I heard about him....people just thought Ben was a terrible leader..., but compared to Wilson....He was a General Patton.

I mean, I would consider Cousins and Mayfield about as top tier Free Agents get at the QB position. Mayfield is probably a middling NFL QB and Cousins is borderline Top 10 IMO. Guys like Cousins only become available after the age of 33 and/or because of injury concerns. Cousins has both, but I think for a 2-3 year option he'd be fantastic.

But yeah, typically top tier guys don't become available. I am just saying that bringing in a Cousins or Mayfield would mean no competition. It would mean they are the starter and Kenny is the backup.

You say this as if he played six seasons as a starter, in those six seasons he is 8-4-1 as a starter. If we all believe the preseason has become like the NBA all star game, useless to really evaluate starters since they barely play and teams play vanilla defense, then what does pre-season really tell you in terms of a starting QB? Based on last year it means zero zippo so we can only really tell when the rubber meets the road, through in game performance. In that regard Pickett has already started more games. Having said all that I don't think Mason would win the starting job unless Pickett just doesn't pick up the new offense. So the only way I think Mason (if he is here) starts is by Kenny ****ting the bed say in the first 3 games. Then they might pull him vs letting the losses pile up.

I don't agree, and I haven't watched it yet, but I gotta respect his opinions.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it does not fit the facts. It implies that all things were equal when they were not and ignores the head coach's words, the guy who made the decision.

No, I write that knowing he has been in the league for six seasons. There are things you can learn about a player watching preseason games, such as how they handle pressure from opponents who would be happy to knock the crap out of them.

I'm sorry you don't understand the difference between starts spread out over the two seasons and starts spread out over six seasons.

That's exactly my point, he's only started 13 games over a six year span and we have never seen him with a full season or two in consecutive starts. Perhaps just perhaps our brain trust just missed it and didn't properly develop Mason while trying to keep Ben's career going. If preseason was so revealing, how did KP and the offense go from lights out can't stop them to absolutely terrible, its because defenses are nowhere near the same in pre-season as they are in the regular season. KP could like HOF potential again in pre-season but we will not know anything until the regular season unfolds.

I think part of the reason the preseason didn't carry over into the regular season was the approach changed. In preseason, with nothing on the line, they cut Pickett loose. Once the games started to count for real, the conservative drumbeat started again.

Rudolph had four years to show the Steelers something before they drafted Pickett. What he showed them was that they really, really did not want him to be their starter. That is part of why they Haskins, signed Trubisky, and drafted Pickett. I'm not sure Rudolph would have even made the 2022 team if Haskins hadn't been killed.

Rudolph's 2022 preseason, which so many folks here rave about, left them so unimpressed that they let him go into free agency. At that point, the entire league had its shot at Rudolph. No team wanted him to compete for its starting job. No team wanted him as its backup. We know this because he had to come slinking back to the Steelers knowing he would be behind both Pickett and Trubisky.

I DEFINITELY DO NOT blindly follow the opinions of Bradshaw as golden: half I agree with, the other half I greatly disagree with. Terry definitely is NOT some golden sage where his opinions are completely trustworthy and iron clad. On this subject, I take a "wait and see" approach, but I'm not "sold" on Kenny just because Terry says he is the "man."

Good point about Haskins. The QB room likely would have been Pickett, Trubisky and Haskins.

But he does know infinitely more than you or I do about football

    Especially about a quarterback
