Pushing off with a sore hamstring is no fun. I give him kudos for finishing the season.
I hate to see anyone go under for the blade, but he'll feel good as new.

I like Cam Heyward but age is not on his side here. Speedy recovery Cam!

He definitely wasn’t the same player this past season. I hope he’s back in top form next season, but Father Time is gaining.

    It was minor surgery

    JK

It’s only minor surgery when they are cutting on someone else’s groin

I thought Cam's problem all year was his groin.

Do you like him $22 mill worth at 35 y/o? I don't. Is this a clear sign they won't be touching his contract? Major error if so.

He's gonna be 35 in May, if it's not his groin it will be something else and all year we will be waiting for "updates" as if he is gonna be back at full force. Not gonna happen.

Obviously it’s a back loaded contract. This happens all the time in the league for top players. Nearly every team does this. He’s not the first to be paid exceptionally after his prime nor will he be the last.

I can’t see why they wouldn’t. Probably give them to every player on the roster before training camp. I know if I owned the team I wouldn’t think twice about it.

If they do nothing but "sit on their hands and accept it" then they are not serious about winning, especially in the playoffs. NO team is serious about winning paying a 35-year-old $22 mill for 2 sacks. I don't care how "kiss @ss" he is.

Probably just a formality; if they are gonna allow him to collect the full contract, they will overlook any maladies that Cam has. Bank it.

In all fairness NT’s are not paid to sack the QB.

I knew I would get hammered on this.

I wouldn't want to be in the Steelers shoes on Cam Heyward; Past his prime and still a fan favorite. $16 million in cap savings if fired, and just coming off basically a "Lifetime Achievement Award". I am not in favor of simply converting the 16 million into a bonus end extending his contract for 3 years to save cap money this year, because I don't think Cam has 3 years left in him. After what we saw from Cam last year, it needs to be a pay cut, not an extension that gives him all his money back in a 3 year bonus. I don't see the Steelers taking a hard line with Cam, but I don't like the "I won't take a pay cut" talk coming out of Cam's mouth after the season he just had.

I think Cam will end up being one of those players we talk about for the next decade that the Steelers allowed to stick around for a few years more than they should have. I am hoping the Steelers go early with a Cam replacement in the Draft or Free Agency.
