I was reading on twitter, one of the PGH writers (sorry I don't remember who), mentioned that he thinks this is the year Ben finally gets his wish of a BIG receiver. It talked about how Ben seemed less hesitant to whip the ball to Plax, than he is with Anotonio Brown or Mike Wallace. I think it could really help out the offense in the redzone too.

There's a lot of guys coming out this year that are about 6'3 or 6'4. I gotta admit if Te'o and the best pass rushers are gone at 17 I wouldn't hate Keenan Allen in round 1 if he was there.

It wouldn't surprise me. I want someone like Anquan Boldin 6'1" 220 or Demaryius Thomas who is 6'3" 229. Plax is the only guy we have who probably plays over 200 lbs. Cotchery is listed right at 200. We need a big physical receiver. I don't care about tall, I care about physical. I wouldn't mind looking at Marcus Davis from VT. 6'4" at 232 and still runs a 4.45 40.

Indeed. Per Ben's own words, regarding throwing to a bigger receiver, he can just "throw it anywhere." :lolol:

He could, but he's not any every down player anymore, can't play special teams etc.

I'm doing my best to block last season from my memory, but I don't really remember Ben throwing to Plax any easier than the others. Maybe he wasn't on the field enough. Is he talking about in training or what?

Also: Ben has a big receiver. His name is Heath Miller. When he throws to him, we generally tend to do well.

he needs a big receiver that can stretch the field. he doesnt have to be a burner, but a wr would be better than a TE.

No joke. The only problem is "when"! We need more "when"! A LOT more! I just hope Heath can make it back for next year.

Heath had a lot of receptions for a TE that can't stretch the field. We need a big WR that can stretch the field. A guy like Bowe, Vincent Jackson, Demaryius Thomas, Julio Jones, Anquan Boldin, etc. Those guys are big, physical receivers that can also stretch the field. Heath is far too slow to consistently stretch the field.

Plax wasn't in training camp last year. If I remember correctly Plax was only targeted 3 or 4 times. I know once was an intereception(plax claims he ran a poor route), one was a 3rd down conversion. I believe both of those were against the Browns so Batch threw those balls. The only other time I remember was the TD in the final game.

I'm just going off what I read that said the coaches said Ben seemed less hesitant to throw it at Plax.

I have suggested we look at the WR from VaTech in maybe the 4th round. He has flown a little under the radar, but I think he has talent.

Chris Harper from Kansas State would be good in the 3rd or 4th rds.
