His feelings were hurt, & it was a question to get a response no doubt, but it was a telling response of how he felt about being benched...

We're talking days between comments & new oc.here so that's not changing. . Neither had any reason to lie about their intentions... So if they replace kp with Tannehill ur okay with it but not with mason rudolph?

It’s up to Rudolph to decide how realistic he thinks it is that he will win the starting job in camp over a 1st rd pick. Like it or not, Pickett carries that extra advantage. Rudolphs best shot at starting here is to try and work out a contract and then see if Pickett fails or not.

I think Rudolph is at best a BU QB in this league. We’ll find out if the rest of the league thinks as highly of him as some of the fans do.

Would never happen but why would I be ok with replacing Pickett with Tannehill? Im looking at Tannehill as a BU and still hoping Pickett develops.

Tannehill has run Artur Smith's offense, and understands the concepts and terminology. He's the better choice for Kenny's backup.

Why not bring in both and let TC decide?

OK. Go with whatever fits your narrative. Ben played for Pittsburgh for 18 years and was the best QB in the history of the franchise. One would think a Steelers fan would be a bit more appreciative.

It's baffling that you watched the same games I did & think that Rudolph is at best a back up & Pickett is a starter... baffling

I am and are a big Steelers fan for over 55 years. Ben was great his first 12 years then the body
wears out from the beating he took. The Steelers paid him handsomely for his service probably north of 230 million for 2 superbowl wins.

I don’t know that Pickett is. That’s what we are going to find out this season. That’s the Steelers fault for wasting a year with Canada.

I personally believe Pickett will play much better with Smith at OC. What I don’t know is what his ceiling is. If it’s only Derek Carr, that’s not going to cut it.

Now list off the post season stats for these same years then explain the falloff.

I just don't understand why Tomlin refused to move Kenny Picket from the QB #1 spot for the playoff game, when Kenny came back healthy.

I want to see Tomlin say the Kenny Picket is not QB #1 and there will be an open competition to determine who is QB #1 this offseason.

I still say Ryan Tannehill is coming to Pittsburgh in 2024 to be QB #1. Kenny can slide to QB #2 and start learning the offense from Tannehill.

Because he is a first rd pick that is going to be given every opportunity to succeed. They were never going to pull the plug after just 2 seasons especially after the Canada disaster.

Tomlin and the team don't benefit in the least telling you, the fan, or the media that Pickett is not QB1. Especially at this point before anything is figured out with Rudolph and free agency. Maybe a little patience will help ya seeing as it's only February.

Kudos, Knox. You make a strong case for Ben’s value his last several seasons in Pittsburgh. The last couple of years, I would argue, Ben was a statue in the pocket but could still do some damage with his arm. Of course, one of those years was with Matt Canada as OC and the only time Ben was truly effective was when he went off script. But anyway, good research on Ben’s last eight seasons. I like it when board members actually take the time to make their case instead of the “you’re wrong and you’re stupid” arguments we see on here too often.

Mayfield isn't leaving a starting job in Tampa unless his new team makes him the starter. I don't think the Steelers are going to do that. Minshew makes a little more sense because he is more likely to accept coming to camp to compete for the job knowing there is a good chance he ends up the backup. That was his situation with the Colts last season. He wasn't supposed to be the starter.

Dobbs was never expected to be a starter. He was drafted as a backup. Rudolph was a decent gamble in the third round. Trubisky was supposed to be a stopgap until they found the guy.

The Pickett pick is the one that doesn't look great right now, but I don't that story is entirely written yet.

Please don't use terms you don't understand. Ad hominem arguments attack the poster. I mocking your argument, not you. How would my post be an ad hominem argument, but you saying it was stupid of me to imply what the receivers think doesn't matter? See how that works?

I didn't write that their opinions are irrelevant, but coaches aren't going to let players make those decisions, especially an established veteran coach like Tomlin. You should know that. Why don't you?

By the way, referring to people who understand that Canada did a terrible job as offensive coordinator sheep is actually an ad hominem argument. It is an attack on the people making those statements, not their arguments against Canada. It is also false. This isn't the first time he failed as OC. LSU couldn't get him out of there fast enough after just one season. Pickett regressed on his watch, too.
