I know I started a Vrabel post once before but damned if I can find it. Anyway, he missed out on the HC hires and was thinking about what if they brought him in for the roll they had Flores in or even assistant HC like Mitchell filled.

That would be a heck of a coaching staff. 2 ex HC plus Tomlin is a world of experience. Always felt the best staff was when they had Haley and Munch. Yeah I know, what did they win, blah blah blah.

He could still end up a DC though, Dallas is looking.

Funny enough I came across this article which pitched the same thing.

Vrabel coming to the Steelers is wishful thinking. Seems like it was semi bitter split when he left. JMHO.

I don't know the details of his contract, but he may be getting paid a lot of money to sit at home.

I was disappointed when the Steelers just rubber stamped Austin's contract without at least looking around to see who was available. I have not been a fan of Austin's since he was promoted from DB coach.

I'm not a fan of it. And it's not because he's not good, but to many big chefs in the kitchen.

When they had Haley and Munch that was one of their best staffs.

and DLB. they had 3 former head coaches on staff at that time. we also had one of the best OL's in the league, best RB, best WR and franchise QB. no super bowl then either.:cool:

But Smith has nothing to do with the defense and would ultimately be no different than when they had Tomlin, Austin and Flores.

They had a real chance in 2015. The Steelers were leading the eventual-SB-winning Broncos in the 4th quarter.

That was a week after Burfict head hunted our all-league WR and injured Ben's throwing shoulder.
Pouncey was out for the season. Their starting LT (Beachum) was injured after October. Bell and DeAngelo were out.

So basically, that year for the playoffs they didn't have the best OL, the best RB, the best WR, or a franchise (healthy) QB.

Unless it can all be put together player and coaching it doesn't matter who it is. You need the right combo. Sometimes egos get in the way.

Vrabel is a very good coach. I'm in for finding him a role here.

if vrabel were on staff here, and tomlin decided to step down, i'd then make vrabel my first choice to interview for HC

Where was Austin a head coach? So no, not the same.

Vrabel would be replacing Flores in this scenario. Therefore your question about Austin is irrelevant.

Smith, Tomlin, vbrael all have HC jobs..... again Austin does not.

I am just not a fan of to many head chefs in the kitchen. Two, sure. Three, problems happen.

Was he still here? I was thinking Butler had taken over by then.

Again, Smith has nothing to do with the defense, and Austin & Tomlin are common denominators with Flores being replaced by Vrabel.

Idk man, you really like circular arguments.

Too many egos in the building now, I would be very surprised if MT
    would let this happen.
