He's a free agent, he's also younger and healthier than veteran QBs like Cousins and Tannehill, could bring him in as competition.

Minshew’s a competitor and I like him. I’d rather bring Mason back to compete for QB1 but if the Steelers are unable to do that, Minshew might be a good option. I think he’s just good enough to keep Kenny on his toes and working hard.

Minshew is a good BU option. He can win you some games. Probably the best BU out there and Kenny won’t be able to feel complacent with Minshew behind him.

I’d rather go after him than any others. Most of the other FA options feel like they already peaked to me but Minshew seems like he still has some upside.

Since Mahomes is going to the Superbowl, Minshew was named to replace him in the Pro Bowl. I doubt that he would come to Pittsburgh to back up Kenny Pickett.

Russell Wilson (only if Denver cuts him).

We would only need to pay him the minimum because Denver is on the hook for his salary minus whatever the next team pays him.

I also like the idea of having an older veteran QB, whose had success in the leagelue, as the backup.

If this is Kenny's "prove it" year then put it all in his hands and see what happens.

fyi - I dont think Mason will resign. I think someone else will give him either better money or a better opportunity.

Why not, hes a backup. He keeps ending up starting because the stater gets hurt, lol.

Given the fact that Kenny isn’t a lock to succeed plus his injury history why wouldn’t Minshew sign here.

More important maybe KFP can learn from Minshew, he is a veteran of many systems
probably has seen alot of different things. Push to be starter?

There's no worse ride to be on than the QB carousel in the NFL, whilst also not being terrible at the same time.

He’s better than KP but still is a journeyman/backup in reality. Our QB situation sucks.

Yes. Minshew would be a solid backup and short-term QB1 if Kenny isn’t the guy.

I was thinking that he might go to someone like the Falcons where he has a chance to start right away but you made some good points about why he might want to come here. In his career as mostly a backup he has thrown 59 TD's and 25 picks so he has been successful as a spot starter/backup. Kenny would certainly feel more pressure with Minshew looking over his shoulder instead of Mitch Trubisky.

Falcons likely will draft a quarterback at pick 8

Mason would be screwed worse there than here

Minshew is a gamer. That would be a nice addition.

Can't just hand the keys to Pickett. Needs a push and no comfort zone. Stand up and deliver.

If not Minshew could manage the game just fine.

I wanted Minshew here during his first FA run.... now that he's a pro bowler, he's gonna cost too much....
    BTW.... no to Tannehill

I would not be opposed to minshew. He’s better than bigk and leaves it all on the field. Won’t ever be a franchise guy, but a decent stopgap

Don't want him, I hope we don't get caught up in the cycle of average QB's.

Right, Pickett production was so bad, he's making average players look good.

I feel like Minshew is the next Ryan Fitzpatrick. I don’t mean that in a bad way.

Thats good about the money aspect with Wilson, but he is not coming to a place to be a back up, and while there seems to be an openness for 'competition", I do not think Wilson or Couisons arein a place to accept a BU role.
