I do not hate Pickens or DJ in the least... as players, I feel we have a top 5 tandem easy...
But I will call out a poor attitude when I see it. And the 2 of them absolutely blew it earlier on letting their frustrations get the best of them.
They both have some growing up to do, but if they do, then we are set with our starters

 

To be fair, if you look over the first ten games - before Canada got the hook and both DJ and Pickens were not at their most beautiful attitude-wise - there really wasn't much difference between London and Pickens in opportunity. If anything, Pickens was a tick above him:

London 40/474, (61 targets, 65.6%), 2TD
Pickens 37/604, (68 targets, 54.4%), 3TD

For me the takeaway is that hopefully both picked up some maturity from their visible tantrums last season, and, in conjunction with an offense that builds upon its end-of-season performance, will be in better places mentally in 2024.

 

That's interesting. And good news for Texans fans.

I'm glad they hired Smith instead of Johnson, we don't have time for an OC to be learning on the job.

 

Or when the Steelers informed him that he wasn’t their guy he decided to go back to Houston.

Texans wanted to keep him and gave him enough of a take it now offer to stay

 

I prefer to think of it as the Steelers were Johnson's team, and when they informed him they were going with Smith he told everybody else he was just going back to Houston.

 

That was my initial thought as well.

 

A couple of big OC/HC candidates staying put now. And Kubiak is still coaching for two weeks. Smith is a good hire.

 

And exactly why would he turn down a promotion and very significant pay raise

 

Guys do that all the time, they find out they aren't getting the job, then they announce they have withdrawn their name from consideration for a job.

How about Leftwich as PGC? I didn’t really want him as OC but he may be okay in that role.
