We need to find a starting CB, and smash both lines.

We were the last team to start our #1 OL pick this year. Every other OL taken in the first round started before Jones. It's ridiculous, did a couple weeks really really make a difference. With how bad our O line was/is he should have started sooner. I agree with an earlier post, first two rounds O Line.

32 teams and your response is one guy. That leaves 159 other starters. Not sure of your point. Let's not forget KC didn't start the season on fire either.

I liked Creed Humphrey coming out and the dude is heading to the super bowl as arguably the best center in the league. So that stings a bit, but making smart decisions is part of why the Chiefs head once again to the superbowl.

If they need to pull the trigger in the 1st round do it. It's one of the most important positions and the experiment there should be over.

I really think they need to a way to get young good talent on the line, and then brink Munchak on board to mold them into dawgs.

Creed Humphrey should be who we go after. I know he is not a free agent. We would have to trade with kc. It will have to be big offer (1st round maybe 2nd next year and i will through in Okorafor. If that is not enough change pick with them

why would a team that has gone to 4 super bowls in the last 5 years part with their center? why would humphry want to come here? dear God get over the creed humphry talk. there are good centers to be had and good ones in the draft. pick one. quit trying to build the line on the cheap. we don't have a franchise qb that we have to pay. free up some money and draft well. quit living with chuks okrafor type players. we have two good guards. we have a good RT find a center and a LT and move on. quit hiring for diversity and hire the best coaches for the job. this isn't rocket science.

Right, they had their chance with Humphrey and blew it. Instead they draft a tight end that they barely throw to, that's injured half the time on top of that. But yeah, there's no way the Chiefs are trading Humphrey until he's old and washed up. They should trade up in the 2nd round and draft Powers-Johnson, he's like Humphrey 2.0

Trading for Humphrey certainly wouldn’t be building the O line on the cheap. He’s close to a payday. I agree that we should try to find “that guy” in the draft.

Whatever we do, let’s first get an OC so we know what we’re going to do and how the available linemen fit. For example, is our run game going to built more around a zone blocking scheme or a power/gap scheme? It makes a difference. You can get guys who fit one or the other really well on Day 3.

i agree about the skillset of the line. we saw that this year and had a mismatch of talent not in sync with each others strengths. we started to run more of a power game and it worked better with these guys. our o-line coach likes the outside zone scheme and that was part of the trouble with canada wanting it and our players trying to learn it. our staff and front office did this with the secondary back when DLB was here. we were drafting zone DB's and trying to make them into man players. DLB liked the zone blitz but he also was trying to change it up for us when they dumped him. he went to tenn. and ran more man than any team with a lot of success. we are always a day late and a dollar short in figuring these things out.

It is funny, I saw that Herbig's base salary goes from $1mil to $4mil this year or cap cost from $2.5 to $5.4 and I wondered if he was our backup center last year or if it was Anderson? Well, Nate Herbig had ZERO snaps at Center and Spencer Anderson had ZERO snaps at center. How can this be???

Mason Cole 1,071 snaps at center for 100% of the teams offensive plays. Never once did the Steelers give Mason Cole, a series, or even a Snap of REST.

    upload_2024-2-15_17-49-20.png

You would think if Mason Cole was struggling, someone might have brought him over to the sideline for a rest or something. Either our O-Line coaching staff is that bad, or Herbig and Anderson must really stink.

FFS, imagine if the offense didn't have record breaking 3 n outs!!!??
That cat Cole would've been bowling a ton more snaps and roughly 4k snaps

You do know that they don't allow as much practice time as they did back in the day, and if You exceed that time it can cost money, and Draft picks

But they can work in preseason games and for the most part they don’t
Heck KSP played less than 1 total quarter combined in 3 games and the rest of the starters were similar

Skeptical of Meyer, he couldn’t get anything out of Dotson but the Rams surely did.

yeah, some drafting misses on the o line too, Green at center was a disaster, and Moore is shaky at LT. Have to get B Jones going at LT and bring in a center (first or second round).

Forget about Dotson and all of his dumb penalties, the Steelers have tow starting guards who are better than Dotson, the OL started slow but they played a lot better the second half of the season.

they were still having a tough time against the bills pass rush, maybe a big part of that was Cole - who couldn’t hold his ground and got pushed into the QB one too many times

Well, Cole is the weak link on the OL, and he won't be the starter next season.
