Then there's all the parroting from less-than-mainstream journalists looking for clicks. I bumped into one earlier today regurgitating a PFF article naming the Steelers as a potential landing spot for Chiefs CB L'Jarius Sneed this offseason. I'd have no complaints, but Sneed's one of the best CBs available and will command an AAV north of $15M. The author expands:

Someone needs to inform him that when the numbers are in red it means teams are over their projected cap. Per OTC:

I like Johnson. I'm just confused why it's he leaving Texans and getting the same job? And what will he do next year?

No offense to Robinson, but the author sounds like he copy-and-pasted his work history straight from Robinson's resume:

I'm not sure what you're asking. Johnson is the QB coach at Houston, interviewing for Steelers' OC.

I left my tarot cards at the fantasy draft day party so I can't tell you what he'll be doing next year just yet. ;)

That would be Bobby Slowik who I wanted for the Steelers OC job last year but Tomlin stood pat with Matt Canada. Slowik is actually interviewing for head coach positions this year. He’ll continue to be a hot commodity. His work with two first year quarterbacks (Purdy and Stroud) the last two seasons has been impressive.

that's kind of what he has to work with. at least he has multiple seasons in the passing game and built it with receivers and the qb's. i think that is a plus that we could use. to be honest if we were smart, we would bring in a passing and qb coach like him and then also bring in munchak to help the o-line and have him as the run game coordinator, which he has done before. win win. these two could fix a whole lot of problems.

I still think he's an interesting candidate...it's not just the Steelers who are interested in Robinson for this job

That doesn’t mean you mortgage the future by panicking in the short term

    That's a lousy business model

I’m not looking at any particular name but if you have a bright guy moving up the ranks and promote them more times than not they will excel

If an OC is available there is a reason they are available and it’s usually not a good reason and they are generally set in how they want to do things

I’d rather find the smartest hardest working young guy

I know of a guy who started out in the general labor gang of a steel mill got educated and constantly looked for promotions

He eventually wound up being GM President and CEO

I doubt Slowik would've came to Pittsburgh last season, him and DeMeco Ryans worked together with the 49ers, what OC would choose working with Pickett over Stroud.

They should be in the market for a QB coach, Sullivan is pretty much gone, Faulkner should continue his role as RB coach he has done a good job.

Stroud was still not on the texans roster at that time...The panthers had also a chance to draft Stroud before the texans....

So rumor mills continue. Dianna Rosinni (sp) reported that Arthur Smith (now taking a break) is being sought after by up to 7 teams. So 93.7 had a podcast linking the Steelers as one of those teams, and because of past connections with him (and us) bringing Munch back as OL coach with him. Absolutely just talk, but damn sure could be a nice package.

HOT Steelers offensive coordinator rumor (youtube.com)

I wasn't trying to throw shade onto his actual abilities. I just thought the article's dramatic re-telling of his path the last few years was amusing.

There were several times this year I thought about how much in disarray players on the offense looked and thought the same. The line needs a center and tackle, but past that they should be a solid unit. They need a good line coach who's on the same page with a competent OC and can bring fluidity to the run and pass blocking assignments.

A passing game coordinator isn't a bad idea either. But right now I'll settle for them getting the OC and line coaches right.

Good thing I wasn’t advocating for that then :thumbs up:

I’d be interested in Robinson but otherwise I prefer a guy with experience for this hire in this particular situation.

What is your definition of experienced

A quarterback coach very well might have years of experience
