how non competitive your offense is ... i mean 45 points.. we cant score that in 2 or even 3 games (maybe 4) ... thats a quarter season for us.... the only reason we win some games is because our D is strong thanks to LeBeu and some of you still want him gone... hes the only reason we are even in games.. we win 20-14 or 13-10 or 16-13.. not 45-31 or 38-35.... we got a longggggggggggg way to go before this team in competitive with big boys on the O side of the ball.. to me we always look rushed and out of sync.. we did under BA and we do under TH... the other teams seem to get set.. read the D .. make adjustments ... reset and snap the ball.. seems we are always snapping with 1 second left on the play clock.... if our D ever becomes a average D before our O gets to an average O we are gonna lose a lot of games..

this is why i cant understand why so many people want to keep Haley and are mad at Ben for not loving the dink and dunk.

the dink and dunk is fine if you want to control the clock, but with the way some of these teams can score the dink and dunk doesnt lend itself to a high scoring offense. even when the dink and dunk was working, they were still only scoring in the mid to low 20's.

im not saying they need to just start chucking the ball all over the place, but Haley was almost dead set against using the long ball at all.

Showed me that you need receivers that can make big adjustments to go after the ball.

Bens arm is not strong like Flacco's or Kaepernicks
Ben throws a long punt like pass hardly ever in stride for the wr.

Disagree... That was more a product of bad defenses ...the Ravens and Packers Ds stinks...and sorry Denvers D is waaaayyyyy overrated...they have played absolutely no one in the last 2 1/2 months...

It also showed me our defense IS in fact a little too old. Steelers needs to get faster and younger.

You've got to be kidding me. How many times does he underthrow receivers?

The reason he under throws recievers a lot is because he has to shake off and avoid 3 defenders before he has a chance to throw the ball. And the defense is the reason we are in games is a joke, the first half of the season they could stop Carson Palmer who looked like a pro bowl candidate as well as an MVP and they let the leagues worst offense score 34 pts but I will admit the offense only put up 31 so there it is. The D played great when our starting QB went down but they were aweful early and we lost a playoff game when the offense scord 23 pts off what was considered one of the best defenses only to let Tim freaking Tebow who can't even be a 2nd string QB for the jets, throw for 316 yards and 3 TDs on 10 complete passes for a 31.6 yard per pass average, that is great D for the last 2 years. The offense stinks, we know it but the defense was number one despite being in the bottom of the league in interceptions, sacks, forced fumbles, and the telling one, losing the lead in the 4th qtr.

The defense laid an egg in 3 of the first 6 games, that's it. The offense was largely to blame for this seasons failure, the defense had a hand in it because anyone of those 3 games where they didn't show would have put us into the playoffs. Overall though, the defense comes through much much more then the offense does, been that way for years now.

Watch Tom Brady play today...and then tell me how the dink and dunk doesn't lend itself to a high scoring offense.

Besides all the other stuff it showed me, again, that there's no consistency in how these games are officiated. One ref calls PI and another thinks it was incidental contact for example. This isn't baseball, rules should be enforced equally.

Yep. But the one thing about the Pats that helps their dink and dunk system a lot is the fact that they establish a bit of the run and then tear it up off play action. I get really irritated that we don't use enough play action but when you really think about it it's understandable because we don't really have a respectable running game. The Pats can also establish a running game with non big name players because people are so afraid of getting killed by Brady. The Pats just make it hard for people to sell out for any one thing. If you stack the box Brady will kill you. If you try and play strictly pass they'll turn around and hand it off. I wish we could be that dominant. Imagine if we had these wide receivers with Bettis. We'd be unstoppable. Oh yeah and another thing that makes the Pats hard to beat is the fact that the guys they pay to catch the ball ACTUALLY CATCH THE BALL. It's amazing how that makes an offense look better ya know?

Yeah and they keep saying that these crews have not worked together a lot but I was thinking "yeah but PI is PI and holding is holding and hands to the face is hands to the face etc etc etc". Both teams were getting the short end of the stick yesterday really.

I knew this post would bring out all the Ben Defenders. It is clear that our offense does not score enough points and that our success is due to our defense. This is a fact. We have averaged in the low 20's for years. This is below average in the current scoring NFL.The offense needs to change.

I'm generally not a Ben Basher, but there's a new article up on Steelers Depot about the scoring under Ben. With Ben at qb we average 22.6 pts a game.

To me, yesterday's games showed the value of a good punt returner/kickoff returner (ie. Denver) who is quick, decisive, and goes for it. Rainey was good, but he just took too much time deciding where his lanes were, and not so clear in his decision making. When was the last time one of our guys returned a kickoff and a punt in the same game? I would settle for one out of the two at least two or three times a year. Maybe sprinkle in a blocked punt here and there.

But if the other team only scores 22 pts. per game, who cares? Obviously, I'm not referring to this season but, really, what difference does it make if you win 45-42 or 17-15? Oh yeah, I forgot. Fantasy football.

Ha, maybe I'm not me, maybe someone stole my identity :hmmm: I read earlier today that we had 7 consecutive games where we held the opposing QB to less then 200 yards. That's pretty impressive in todays pass happy league, most be doing something right. I hope they keep our secondary in tact, can't remember the last time I wished for that :o I'm also hoping Cortez wasn't a flash in a pan and continues grabbing those turnovers, thats the one thing our defense lacks, we need a playmaker like that.
