Have the Steelers requested to interview any OC's off of other teams yet?

I don't love empty set or going 5 wide at the goal line either, but Rudolph is supposed to be the guy that goes through progressions and finds the right guy. His man was covered and he threw the ball. He should have come off of that read. He had several other options in the progression. That's what we are told is the difference between Rudolph and Pickett by so many here. One way or another, the interception can't happen. Either you need a better read or a better, earlier throw, but Rudolph can't throw a pick there.

If the defender's head is turned and he is in close proximity to the receiver, the throw has to come very early with better anticipation. Otherwise, it is more likely the defender turns his head to find the ball as they go to the sideline. I still say he should have come off of that read and gone somewhere else with the football or thrown it away if nothing was there. It was only second down. You don't force a ball on second down in the endzone. Throw it away if you have to and you still have 3rd down to try to score the TD.

It was a bad play. It happens, but it was a bad play.

I will once again have to agree to disagree. Elam did not make a heck of play, in fact it was fairly routine since it was basically uncontested.

Unlikely they will request to interview an OC from another team

If they are any good the other team will just say no

If they are not any good……

I think you're just going to have to disagree with yourself.
Scribe is right and Mason sums it as such.

Kind of alludes to what I described early on.

I am pretty certain this is Mason being a good teammate and taking ownership. He didnt/doesnt need to make a big deal out of it as to how DJ ran the route. I watched the play , I know what I would have done as the receiver in that situation and it damn sure wouldnt have been to back up. I thnk DJ got careless and even a DB who has been getting smoked the whole drive, could still make that easy uncontested pick because the WR was nowhere near the ball, at least not where he should have been. Just like Mason said, its us or no one, well DJ wasnt even in position to break up the pass.

I can see the Steelers requesting an interview with Eric Bieniemy.

Eric Bieniemy had his interview with Washington for their head coaching job last week, so he may start Interviewing at other places this week, if he didn't like what he heard.

That's what happens when a corner reads the play perfectly, puts himself in great position, and the quarterback is foolish enough to throw it anyway.

How dare Johnson not bail Rudolph out on a poor read!

He's being pretty honest. I've seen the film a bunch of times.
    upload_2024-1-22_12-11-34.png

It was a bad decision, self-confessed and analyzed.
How do you cure this? It's repetition.
As a QB, you get that that over and over. They run those drills a lot.
You have to be on the same page as the WR or TE.
That day, they weren't. As I've said, those things will happen.

I dont doubt Mason is a stand up guy and took ownership, I'm talking from a purely visual account of what I ( we ) saw happen. As I said multiple times, we can agree to disagree, should Mason have not attempted that pass, maybe, should DJ have helped to ensure that pass wasnt caught by the defender....absolutely 100%.

Thank you for acknowledging my expertise. David Dunning is a well-credentialed and respected expert in his field.

LOL It wasn't open, so no, Rudolph should not have thrown that pass. Maybe Johnson could have run a better route and bailed him out of the interception, but that was clearly a bad decision and poor execution by Rudolph. It is also a reach to assume Johnson should have broken it up, but in this case, I'm Dunning and you are an example of the effect.

It was definitely a bad throw, but man, 18 should have tried to fight for it. Even a little bit to get in the DB's path or tackle him or something.

18 saw the ball before the DB did, but didn't try to come back to it.

it was like 18 didn't think the pass was coming to him so he started his patented walk-while-there's-a-live-ball-move and suddenly the ball and the DB showed up.

that misses one of the stated requirements. I'm guessing he was suggested to Tomlin by Mcvay
