You can't make one without getting the raw talent. A potter needs clay at a minimum.

We gave up a draft choice which potentially could have gotten us some clay.

So who was in that draft that we gave up a pick for?

    Was it Burrow and Herbert?

I really like Herbert, on the right team and coaching I think he could hang with the top qbs.

That clay wouldn't have done us any good. We don't have very good potters on our coaching staff. Besides, without Minkah, Tomlin would've had a losing season.

I doubt we suck so hard that we get up to Burrow or Tua. So Jordan Love would have been there.

But he was very raw. The Packers knew they were drafting a project. Even after 2 years on the bench, his footwork is awful. He doesn't set his feet very often, he throws Trubisky style fadeaways when there's no pressure. His arm is just so good that he usually overcomes it. I can't see our coaching staff developing him like the Packers.

You forget that they thought they had the next guy already in Rudolph.

I was a fan of Edmunds while he was here and was sorry to see him go. He was bounced out of Philadelphia pretty fast, so I may have overated him when he was here. Edmunds may be working concession stands this year as bad as he looked last year.

That said while everyone was screaming for Washinton in the 3rd round, I was really hoping the Steelers would have drafted Alabama SS Jordan Battle instead of TE Washington. Battle would go 2 picks after the Washington Pick to the Bengals. I would have loved to have seen Battle and Minka working together in 2023.

Ha! Wasn’t directed at you. Anyway, you were in good company. How many draft pundits were taking it as a given that he would be great? 80%? 90%?

My whole aspect of Lawrence coming out was he was the complete package. As you said though, my biggest fear at the time was Urban Meyer. History proved me correct for one season. Hiring Doug Pederson I thought was a terrible move as well; a move that I received a lot of pushback for.... along with hiring Trent Baalke but I think a lot of us knew how well he was/is going to be.

Still feel for Lawrence.. but he must limit the turnovers. He and Daniel Jones are inseparable stats wise.

Yikes. I hadn’t compared their stats. I’m not sold on Lawrence ever being what he was expected to be, but I’d take him over 10 Daniel Joneses.

If you want a do over, you draft Lamar Jackson with the 26th pick instead of Edmunds.

    I'd rather redo this one!!!

I remember got massive pushback for this early on. All I know is that when Centers usually grade out in the 1st Round, their bust rate is comically low. Linderbaum may not be a QB but he sure as well would have helped Najee Harris via clearing lanes.

An All-Pro player for a mid first round pick is a good deal. I understand that safety isn’t a premium position but Minkah was a relatively known commodity at that stage and he has added a lot to that defence.

It’s a pity that they couldn’t get some complementarity from the offence while Minkah, Cam and TJ were all healthy and balling in recent years because that defence was good enough to support a championship run. They just had no help at all.

The Bush trade in 2019 is a different story, I and a number of others on here said it was too much to give up. The fact he was a bust compounds the bad trade, but even if he was good I dont think you can justify giving up all those picks for a LB
