Why wouldn't Carolina try to sign Mason Rudolf as a bridge QB for there
Young QB to possibly learn from. Mason would basically be going home
to the Charlotte area. Tepper may give him the money he could be looking for. How about Atlanta, That looks like a pretty good situation. I am sure Mason and his agent
Will explore their options.Denver another option. What I am trying to tell you knuckleheads is there is
a good chance MR is never coming back.

I have the feeling that we may get an actual QB competition in 2024.

It's one thing to have a competition. It is a completely different thing to hand the job to the guy that wins.

What I am saying is, is it really a competition if the outcome is predetermined?

At the end of the day, the Steelers are going to stick with Pickett. So what's the point?

If we are being honest, Mason outplayed Mich and Kenny the last time there was a "competition".

Not just a hard sell,,, it's detrimental to team cohesion... Who would've looked at the last month & thought anything other than Pickett will be the backup... He'll be a good backup to have... Starting Pickett over Rudolph would be spitting in the face of the rest of the offense & most sane Pittsburgh steelers fans at this point...

He didn’t outplay Kenny, he had a great preseason which was what made the regular season all the more shocking. The guy was precision in preseason.

But as to your overall point, I agree, I doubt it will be a real competition. I think they would like to have Rudolph back in case Kenny fails and Rudolph can just slide in seamlessly.

It was a stupid thing for DJ to say when Kenny will very likely be starting next season. It’s so dumb that I actually thought that was a fake quote when I first saw in on twitter.

So you weren't observing the competition on a day to day basis?

If observing the Steelers, in person, on a day to day basis, was a prerequisite for making a comment, then this board would be empty.

The talk coming out of camp was that Mason was outplaying Mitch and Kenny by a fairly wide margin. If you remember, the Depot actually was at all the practices, and took stats on the scrimmages. Mason Rudolph had a fairly wide lead in completions, TDs, and Ints.

All three looked pretty good in the preseason. Kenny's stats did come at the end of games for the most part.

Even if Mason didn't outplay Kenny. He certainly outplayed Mitch.

Are you talk about last camp or Kennys first camp? Last camp Kenny outplayed everyone. First camp I agree, Mason outplayed them.

After masons first start he made a comment along the lines of it being great having A qb that stands in the pocket and delivers the ball instead of bailing

I was talking about Kenny's first camp. Last camp Kenny was the unquestioned starter. I don't think anyone could argue that.

First camp, Kenny was never starting so it was just a “competition” between Mitch and Rudolph.

Mason would have to be re-signed first, that's not a lock.

I posted the clip of Tomlin talking about Kenny, he’s absolutely getting more time as the starter. Make or break year for him.

Obviously. Even if Mason isn’t back I feel KP is done or will be done by the middle of next season. After watching Mason at the end of the year, and trust me I don’t think he’s the long term answer either, it just shows how crappy KP is.

Assuming Rudolph is still in pittsburgh it makes zero sense to start Pickett ahead of him... The best argument that can be made is Pickett was a 1st rd pick... The offensive players want Rudolph, most sane fans want Rudolph,,, so why would Tomlin keep trying to shove a square in a round hole???

You are really asking why Mike Tomlin would be stubborn and try putting a square peg in a round hole? Really?

True. But it was portrayed as a 3 way competition. That's kind of my point. There really is no competition when you already know what you're gonna do.
