Leal was playing like so I think he was on the bench.

Leal I think was inactive for the playoff game. Benton kinda pushed them both down the bench and good play from Adams and Watts buried them there.

Kevin Colbert lost his mojo. He traded up for Loudermilk in 2021, and the 2022 draft with Leal is just looking worse and worse.

Hopefully we don't lose Weidl and we can fix this mess.

I'm not just talking about lately, Leal has done nothing from day 1. I mean, the guy was a 3rd round pick, you'd expect at least something out of him. I think I spotted Loudermilk on special teams in the Bills game, but he's been almost as much of a phantom as Leal. At least they only wasted a 4th round pick on him, but these middle round misses are really starting to hurt

Both have been very underwhelming but it can often take some time for Defensive Linemen to get going. They look like career rotational guts for now. Leal may not even be that.

Yeah, really. Tuitt is starting to look like a hall of famer compared to these 2 stiffs

I think the percentage chance of getting a starter from the 3rd or 4th round (DL specifically) is around 25%. Now it would suck if neither of them turn into a decent back up or rotational piece, but its not as glaring a miss as it looks like. Leal had a much better rookie year than 2nd, and TBH looked fairly noticeable. Year 2 he got buried in the depth chart by players that out performed him. As for Loudermilk, He's really just been a STer and bottom of the depth chart back up. Not much to write home about.

Thing is people tend to forget that Overall Line Play, be it Offensive or Defensive, takes three years minimum to adjust to. Just because someone like Keeanu Benton, who should have been a late first round option anyways, can create an immediate impact, doesn't mean that is always going to be the case. Hell, while his talent and potential were undeniable, even J.J. needed a year to figure it out. By year two?! HOF Career.

Now, no one is stating that either Louderrmilk or Leal will be even that good. Hell, neither are starter capable. Sub package players though?! That is what needs to be found out; Leal being the one under more pressure.

Tuitt is looking like a total Jag Off that screwed the team over.

Leal has been inactive for most of the season, I don't think he has a real position, Loudermilk has played some later in the season.

I don't think it was an intentional screw job. He was just having some personal issues that he unfortunately wasn't able to overcome. It was a pity, because he still had potentially 3-4 good years left in him

It is funny, at some point this season, I thought I read an article where a coach was praising Loudermilk’s progress. Guess it didn’t translate to the field, which is what we need to see.

loudermilk has done OK this year in the role they have him in. we use two down linemen so much that it's hard to get on the field for these guys.

Leal couldn't play a half without getting hurt.

Loudermilk played some, but he was invisible as usual. Neither he nor Leal are good.

It really is terrible how Stephon Tuitt’s career ended. It was a terrible loss for the Steelers and especially himself pretty much at the peak of his career. Our Defense hasn’t really been the same since. I hope that he is doing well these days. It stinks that it cost the Steelers in cap but I can’t fault him at all for his emotions.

    This.

I think Leal had a bit of a tough break when the team was moving him all over the place, including playing some OLB. It’s hard to hone your skills when you can’t focus on one position. Not to mention knowing wether to drop or gain weight during the off season.

I heard the same thing about Leal, but yet he's been non-existent. I'm mean, I don't realistically expect a 3rd and 4th rounder to become Pro-Bowl players, but it would be nice if they could at least become decent rotational players. They seemed to be high on both of these guys, but neither one has panned out, at least not yet

Wait.....I thought Tomlin drafted everyone that is bad and all the good players were Colbert's picks. :lolol:

Loudermilk (2021 5th round pick) played in 16 games this year with 0 starts, 17% of the defensive snaps, 19% of the special teams snaps. - 16 tackles, 0 tackles for a loss, 1 QB hit

Leal (2022 3rd round pick) played in 12 games this year with 4 starts, 25% of the defensive snaps, 7% of the special teams snaps. - 15 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 QB hits

    No injuries listed in 2023.

The bigger disappoint is Leal, as a 3rd round pick you expect more from him. Loudermilk being in the 5th is less so. Most picks after round 4 are 50/50 at best.

But he still collected a paycheck, and didn't retire until after the draft if I recall...That my friend is a Jag off move
