And we can live without all five of them
    Cameron Heyward
    Larry O
    Alan Robinson
    Chuks
    D. Johnson

That would be a foolish thing to do.

Cut them or see if you can Trade Cam or DJ for some picks. Cam maybe a team give a pick if they have just that need but he is past his prime so if no bite have to make the decision to cut him.

DJ is about the only one I'd consider keeping, only because the WR position is so thin here. Love Cam but he's done. Larry O didn't do anything this year. Chuks and Robinson stink. Trubisky and Pat P also need to go.

I’d like to see Cameron Heyward stay, but he’s gonna cost 22 million against the cap. $16 million savings to cut him. I’m guessing he probably gets offered some type of extension that lessons the blow.
But name one of those guys that we couldn’t improve upon for the same money they’re making or less?

Cam can still be a big contributor but I don’t think he can be an every down guy from now on. His contract is an issue, it is set up as an option year and he probably had his eye on retirement this offseason. I hope they can work something out but even if he stays I think they need to strongly consider DT at #20.

Id have no issue moving on from Ogunjobi but they’ll need a like for like replacement so is it really a saving?

    Robinson, no brainer cut

    Chuks, no brainer cut

I get that everyone hates DJ but I would keep him, they only have so many draft picks, you can’t cut everyone

Cole and Trubisky are nearly certain cuts

Pat Peterson is an interesting case, he looks like he has something to contribute but he is costing $7m

They also have a lot of scope to move money via restructures and extensions with higher earners. They didn’t touch TJ’s contract last offseason for example and can save $10 there with a simple restructure

They shouldn’t be short of cap space

DJ was balling down the stretch, would be dumb to cut him. Unless you have someone to replace Heyward, he stays. They aren’t in cap hell, Khan can do plenty to free up money if he needs to.

We all love Cam but dude costs $22M against the cap and doesn't do anything anymore. Time catches up to everyone. I'd cut him.

How dare you and Blast bring reason and logic to this thread!

Cutting Heyward and Ogunjobi sounds nice in theory, but viable replacements won't come cheaply.

Johnson played well late in the season, and as you said, they can't replace everybody.

I think they need to cut Peterson. I've seen enough of the experiment at safety. He is too hesitant in coverage and he doesn't tackle well enough. He was a hell of a corner, but he lost too many steps to stay there. He's no Rod Woodson. He never was.

That would be my thought, too. I think the groin injury ruined his entire season, but guys his age don't suddenly start being healthier.

For the love of god get rid of Patrick Peterson anyway possible the guy has no business still being in the NFL. It was a terrible signing to begin with.

I would trade Highsmith, he's a decent player, but nothing special. I was so disappointed that they didn't play Herbig more in the Playoffs.

Cam basically said his groin was an issue in his post game presser.

I like Highsmith, he is a good Robin to Watt’s Batman.

His sacks trailed off second half of the season, but I’m not too worried about it.

I just saw that. He actually said it was a problem all through training camp and they were trying to manage it, but he "tore it completely off the bone" in the game against the 49ers.
