Love the young center from Oregon. Jackson Powers Johnson. Could be a sub 5.0 40 time.

Love the crazy speed on this kid. Watching him get outside, by going inside is crazy.

Could Check all the boxes at the NFL combine: Younger, Bigger, Stronger, and Faster.

Keep in mind, you may not see his name on some of the Draft sites, as he Declared for the NFL in December. Funny, I was over at 2024 NFL Draft Prospects: Center – WalterFootball and I started to doubt myself, because Jackson Powers Johnson is not listed at all for their top center prospect for the 2024 draft. Had to do a google search to find out he just declared last month. Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson declares for 2024 NFL Draft (247sports.com)

I believe he is currently under 21.

Maybe I am missing something as it says the page was last update 5 days ago? Do they have him at another O-Line position?

This page was last updated Jan. 6, 2024. Follow Walter @walterfootball for updates.

If we could get JPJ in the 2nd or Van Pran or Frazier in third, I would be happy.
We had good luck with our 2nd round JPJ last year.

I doubt Jackson Powers Johnson will be available in Round 2. Van Pran is possible but not likely. Now, Zach Frazier?!

That is someone I am willing to roll the dice on. Wild card is Graham Barton from Duke but given how he has only five starts as a Center in college, I am not too certain.. yet. This here is going to be quite the litmus test for him. Hell, even if he does well, there is another problem with Graham Barton; he is widely considered a Top 20 pick overall heading into the 2024 Draft. Nabbing him will require a run on the Offensive Tackles; a MASSIVE area of need this team must address.

As I have said before and will again; OT in Round 1. Center in Round 2.

Centers are generally castoffs from other positions, those who cannot play guard or tackle get to try at center. I am not worried about finding a center.

    It is him I want...

The most this draft. In other words I won't flinch if we took him at 20-whatever...:(

But preferably in the 2nd rd.

Says Kendrick Green. And Mason Cole also says your welcome.

To me a good center is as good as a LT; if you have a center bouncing a ball all over the place, or a center that just gets pushed right back into the pocket your offense is doomed from the start.

They took Pouncey at #18, would they take Johnson at #20? This draft is loaded with Tackles, so maybe Tackle in the 2nd?

No to drafting a center in the first round, second round or later maybe a free agent.

I feel like we have already done that and it hasn't solved anything.

The Chiefs got Creed later in the second round, that's a position that tends to drop.

Guyton, Morgan are ranked where we may take an OT
This is all speculation, Steelers FO will have to identify
Their priorities for up coming season, Hopefully their
Scouts are burning the midnight oil trying to find
    These prorities.for value and production.

Steelers should take a T if one falls to them, even if it's a LT, Jones can stay at RT.

I would, but the second looks like the sweet spots for center this year. Powers-Johnson, Van Pran, and Frazier all look like mid-2nd to early 3rd talents. A right tackle in the third or 4th should be able to contribute this year.

Cooper Mays at C would be awesome. Unfortunately (or fortunately for UT vols fans) he is staying for his last year of eligibility at TN. If he stays healthy next season, I look for his stock to soar. Could be the next stand out C in Pittsburgh in a line of world class C's.

The C should be the captain of your OL and the smartest guy out there. Aside from the QB, he touches the ball every snap. I don't want a cast-off who can't play G or T. We tried that with Green and it was a disaster. I want a C who was made for the position. Why do you think that about the C position?

    C:

    Jackson Powers-Johnson
    Cedrick Van Pran
    Zach Frazier

    OT

    Taliesi Fuaga
    Amarius Mims
    Graham Barton
    Tyler Guyton

One from each of those 2 positions would make me a happy camper

If one of these 3 RT are available at #20, we take one of them:

    1. Taliese Fuaga Oregon State
    2. JC Latham Alabama
    3. Amarius Mims Georgia

I want an experienced RT and not convert a LT to RT.
If all are gone by #20, then we have to focus on CB. Take the best CB available at #20.
If both RTs and CBs are gone, we go and get the best stud DL available.
I think center position can come in the 2nd or 3rd round. Safety is another area to consider in 2nd and 3rd round.

Ramon Foster said today that Center Jackson Powers Johnson dominated the day for all interior lineman.

Now the other top center, Georgia's Van Pran who had accepted an invitation to the senior bowl with 6 other teammates was a No Show on Monday. Georgia was sending 7 players to the Senior Bowl.

This should easily drop Van Pran to the 2nd round and may even see him hit the 3rd round, if no explanation is ever given as to why he had to drop out at the last minute.

Georgia OL Sedrick Van Pran no longer on Senior Bowl roster (msn.com)
Although he was initially listed on the roster, Van Pran's name was removed on Monday due to an undisclosed reason. These decisions are usually made due to injury concerns or at the advice of the players' representatives.

Graham Barton out of Duke is intriguing.
