I have been very critical of Tomlin since the Jacksonville loss.

The team always seems flat footed and clunky -especially in big games. Then they show a little (too little too late) bit of life to get me thinking 2008 against the Ravens will happen again.

I can tell that question wasn’t supposed to be asked in that setting and I honestly didn’t have too much a problem with him walking off, even if I think he should have responded; even if it was with a Tomlinism nothingburger fancy word salad.

What I immediately read in that moment was that a very sore subject was poked at and there is a very real and much larger event going on behind the scenes. That was an old school TV drama, end of season cliff hanger moment. Lots of shocked people with mouths wide open.

    “To be continued…”

Steven A ESPN said what if Tomlin went to the Cowboys well they would win 12 games like they do every year and go out in the first round at what point do you think Tomlin is a good playoff coach I don’t know what you have to smoke to think he’s a wonderful Playoff coach if you never want to advance on the playoffs, he’s your guy he had Ben Rothlisberger in his prime Le’Veon Bell in his prime, Antonio Brown in his prime and a top 10 defense, and never got anywhere near a Super Bowl the one he did win was with Cowhers team oh I forgot about 08

Even the announcers were laughing at that

Well Karl it's good that you were brought up with respect. Hopefully most people are. But we all know the media is shameless. Tomlin had to know it was coming and expected it. Diplomatically dispose of it and move on to the next question.

Agree. He gave it his best shot for 17 years. It's just regressed over the last several to a constant " upper middle of the pack". No glory, no premium draft picks.

I think he feels disrespected. Lots of football media people say he is in top 3 of coaches in the NFL.

I think he is getting a fat contract soon and not going anywhere.

    I can agree with that.
Tomlin despises that woman as many do.
Me, I have a mean and cruel streak. I would have listened to her and said "What kind of dumb question is that? Next."

Someone mentioned to me, "That he is not going anywhere."
To me the question now goes to "What changes?" The load now rests squarely on the front office.

Well if he is gonna leave he needs to make this announcement I’d say in the next 7-10 days at the latest. This isn’t something where he can just drag his feet until March or April and then make up his mind then. So if he is gonna do it he needs to do it soon and not hold the organization hostage.

Well, it didn’t take long for info to come out on his decision (day after season like you wanted). It looks like he is staying -

    https://www.si.com/nfl/steelers/news/mike-tomlin-will-return-pittsburgh-steelers-2024-season

That kind of shoots a hole in the argument about a hiatus.

Personally, I'm with holding a judgement on it until I see what shakes out in the coming months.
I know a new OC is coming. I want to see where they go with it.
I would expect some serious evaluations of all the coaching staff. I would expect some changes.
As far as players, I think there has to be some tough decisions.

If it is Status quo and either of the two stand-in OC's are named as OC,,, then all bets are off.

Okay so Tomlin stays. Groundhog day needs to come to an end. The Steelers need to gut the assistants . Bring in some that can garner attention because of successes instead of being underlying and underachieving. If they have to leave after a year or two by better offers,so be it. It means things are being done right. Tomlin should sit back, delegate and collect a cool 12 mil. Groundhog day be damned.

"Fact"... you know, kids are happy that media devices are getting smaller, they seem to prefer phones over Laptops and Big Screen TV's...
I am not like that. You can tell, as you already have, that I suck at writing anything on a stupid tiny phone screen.... hell, I can't see it unless I am wearing my bifocals which I can't wear because I've fallen up every stairwell in the state of PA..

I've spent my life dreaming of giant screens and striving to achieve a goal of having literally a drive inn screen in my home .... I think the 72" TV in my den is too small but fortunately, I have a wife that provides a voice of reason.
The same woman that tells me I am going to fall in a hole if I don't wear those and won't let me park my Harley in the Florida room when it is cold.

You have my sincerest apologies sir.

    Exactly

If that was me I would know the question was coming and would have an appropriate in your face come back just waiting and ready

And I would have set an example and not walked away leaving a perfect opportunity laying there

That's not the time and place to ask that question right after a game, you aren't going to get an answer why even bother, you can wait until the end of the year presser this week.

Really? They've asked that question to every single player they thought was going to retire after their last games. Why should a coach be any different?

If Tomlin was going to get butthurt. Then he had weeks before he could have told the media. Heck he still hasn't.

So Tomlin is starting to be like another Rodgers. And that's something I do not care for and I wish our owner didn't tolerate. Because of they're like this for that, I can only imagine what they're like for actually working. So Tomlin probably did cry over Canada.

Tomlins Press Conference in a little while should be interesting.
He will get the question again, maybe a couple times. This time he has to say something.
I wasn't a fan of it after the game regardless of any/all excuses. But at noon, it's open season.
I don't think Tomlin would announce his extension, I think that will come next week with Roony's season end presser.

*I think they do a 1-year maybe 2-year. It doesn't mean he will fulfill it - it just takes away the lame duck deal.

I'm not sure what to expect from Tomlin, pretty much the same.
    Maybe he changes it up.
