The Steelers have trailed by 21 points at some point in each of the past 4 playoff games. If this is the standard, I want no part of it.

For a good while all tomlin defenders would say is "Well obviously it's the players fault. Tomlin can't possibly be responsible for this startling trend as he's not the one out there playing". I think it's safe to say even the the most ardent defenders couldn't agree with this sentiment anymore. It's mike and his staffs job to prepare and scheme up a good gameplan. That gameplan apparently involves a LONG feeling out process and not tipping their hand until they are knocked out on their feet.

The playoffs are time to do something 'special'

Green Bay opened up a completely different team in Dallas..
I figured that Pittsburgh would pull out all the stops facing such odds.
The conditions limited some but it is no excuse.

I guess we can also count the AFC championship in 2017 as well against the Patriots where we also trailed by 21 or more....so thats the past 5 playoff games....thats an awesome standard Mike has established!!!!

Awesome! Rooney should extend Tomlin. A life time contract is definitely in order. :goofy:

As Tomlin himself says, this is a results oriented business.

you know setting aside all the points made here there's one thing that sticks in my craw. Why is Harvin still on this team????? For 3 years he has been awful and inconsistent yet here he is still kicking for us. If Tomlin was as smart as some on this board think he is why in the world do we still have this bum punting? It's beyond stupid

I cant believe tomlin is coming back with these stats in the last 5 playoff games. This is flat out embarrassing. Its embarrassing as a fan,an organization and now I am really feeling for the Rooney's who apparently have no way out of this mess.

In many of those playoff games we were barely competent for the playoffs. When average teams luck into the playoffs against good teams, they tend to get exposed and trounced. Getting to the playoffs for some of those teams was the remarkable accomplishment. Losing by a large margin was no surprise - would have been more surprising to have won with the flawed teams for some of those games.

no excuse for those games where we were favored.

this is the only franchise in the NFL that would put up with that crap for so long.. you get an even more clear picture of the longstanding mediocrity when you look back at our only three playoff wins since 2010; we beat a depleted matt moore led dolphins team, 6 boswell field goal game vs a crappy kc team, and lucked out with pacman and burfict melting down after getting outplayed by an aj mccarron led bengals team. we have gotten completely shell shocked and outcoached in just about every other postseason game we've played in.

They played not to lose, instead of playing to win. Tomlin ALWAYS lives in his fears

I was thinking that Tomlin finally did something smart by signing Wing, but I should've known better. I figured that they were going to start Wing, and demote Harvin to the practice squad. Did signing Wing right before the playoffs and not playing him make a damn bit of sense to anyone? Especially considering how awful Harvin has been his whole career? Tomlin should be fired just for that alone

They have a way out. They just wont take it. There is nothing keeping them from either firing him or letting his contract run out. Neither of those things are going to happen.

I posted this on another thread, if you look at the last 5 playoff games its 66-0 in the first quarter and 122-47 by halftime. The only constant is Coach Tomlin. Players execute but man the game plans have not been flexible enough to adapt quick enough when plan A wasn't working and the clearly the teams came out flat in those games and not prepared and that is on the coaching staff.

They are improving! Only gave up 31points this last game! That’s all we can hope for and expect.

Funny, of all our teams that have gone to the Playoffs these past few years this was probably the worse and did the best.
