Just saw on NFL.com that Jerome Bettis made the final 15 for the Hall of Fame. Congrats Bus!

I hope Jerome gets in. I would love to go see him get inducted this year.

So who introduces the Bus if he gets in - Cowher? Ward? The Bus Driver - John L Williams? One of the Rooneys? Ben for redeeming him with "The Tackle" in the playoff game with Indy?

I could be wrong but I thought it was the player's choice.

My point. Then why would he go into the Hall as a Packer?

He's only served as a coach with the Packers, not a player. He was a player with Rams, Steelers, Panthers and 49ers. And I'm pretty certain it's up to the player to decide. e.g. Rod Woodson was a Steeler, Raven and Raider and chose Steelers. Can't remember who Neon Deone picked but he played for a schmit-load of teams. Happens all the time.

It's ironic what's happened in MLB HOF this year - I'd imagine the NFL has had as many dopers if not more - just not as squeaky clean an image as MLB tries to have. Maybe Pete Rose should have played in the NFL - he was certainly built like a halfback and would possibly be in the NFL HOF today.

    GO BUS!

And speaking of Canton - (before most of your time) does anyone remember that each summer the previous year NFL Champ (or maybe runner up) would play a game in Canton against a set of College All-Stars from the previous season? Not sure if this was a short term gimmick like the double All-Star games in MLB or was a longer term tradition. There was also a consolation game a few years with the 2nd place teams from each NFL division playing each other the week before or after the NFL title game (only two at that time). I can remember the Steelers playing the Lions in this game in late 50's or early 60's one year and lost miserably. Probably the Bobby Layne, John Henry Johnson, Big Daddy Lipscomb team.

We have this discussion every time a former Steeler goes in. My understanding is that a player goes in as an individual, not as a member of any team.

Larry Allen –– I think he gets in
Jerome Bettis –– I think he gets in, should have gotten in before Curtis Martin despite less yards IMHO
Tim Brown –– had a nice long career I think he has to wait though
Cris Carter –– Should have been in yesterday, best WR I have seen besides Rice
Curly Culp –– Don't know enough about him, but I would say no, but senior committee might vote them in?
Debartolo –– He might get in someday, But I say he waits
Kevin Greene –– Should be in, but I say he waits
Charles Haley –– Most rings of any player, I think he gets in, total gamer
Art Modell –– many hate him, but he is almost like one the founding fathers of the game, I say he gets in
Jonathon Ogden –– He should be in, but other linemen should go in before him, I think he waits.
Parrcells –– Waits because Modell gets in and sub-par second half of career.
Andre Reed –– kind of a similar game to Tim Brown, but both not as complete as Cris Carter, Waits
Dave Robinson –– Don't know enough about him, but I say no, but senior committee might vote them in?
Sapp –– I guess he gets in one day, but he is a little overrated to me.
Will Sheilds –– I think he deserves to be in, definitely, should be in this year, but no rings may hurt him?
Michael Strahan –– He will get it one day, that sack record doesn't count in my eyes...he can wait.
    Aneas Williams –– No.

If Jerome gets in this year, I plan to travel to Canton to see it! I was all prepared to get tickets last year and Curtis, (I never played in a SB), Martin got the nod!
