I don't give a crap what they charged him with. The stupid @#@$@$@ had the opportunity of a lifetime and through it away. He got lucky when they dropped the felony charges against him and was given a second chance. He is too stupid to realize that and screwed the pooch. Any man that hits a woman can die in a fire for all I care.

After having to watch the no excuse for hitting women video over and over...I think they have no choice in this one.

Obviously I'm disappointed with him, and it's starting to seem like the hits just keep on comin'. What an idiot.

But I don't understand why so many of you are complaining about his on-field performance. You talk about him like he's a disappointment. He was a 5th round pick who we knew was going to be a special teams player and bit player on offense, just a snap or two here and there. He is not an NFL running back, and no one ever said he was, and that's not what he was drafted to be. The fact that Tomlin gave him so many reps has nothing to do with Rainey, and everything to do with Tomlin trying to send some sick message to Mendenhall, Dwyer, and Redman. The message being, "If you mess up, I will take you out, even if it means losing the game and not making the playoffs (Cleveland).

He's no better than Stefan Logan? Logan was statistically the best kickoff returner the Steelers ever had. He averaged 26.7 per return, and this year Rainey averaged 26.6. Maybe if there had been a decent number of kickoffs this year like there was when Logan was here, he would have broken the record. He was explosive and dangerous in the open field. We saw it in the preseason at RB and on punt returns, and in the regular season on kickoff returns. That's not a super easy thing to find. Oh, gee, he didn't do so well when we smashed him up the gut for an entire half? What a disappointment. Cut him if you want, but it doesn't look like he did anything worse than what James Harrison did, and I don't remember too many people calling for him to get cut.

Oh, we did cut Rainey? Well, we got rid of Stefan Logan too. Guess we don't like that kind of thing around here. And "The Steeler Way" of keeping its image clean by retaining star players (Ben, Harrison) and who get into trouble with the law, and jettisoning 3rd stringers (Cedrick Wilson, Chris Rainey) continues. Didn't Ta'amu try to run over some cops with his car? I'm not excusing violence against women, but I think attempted vehicular homicide is a tad worse. I wish we would just admit that it's for show and nothing else, because I'd like to keep either zero good Steelers that commit crimes or all the good Steelers that commit crimes. I don't get this. The way I see it, the organization does not have any of the integrity it tries to make it look like it has, but it still misses out on some good players. If we're going to let a bunch of women abusers hang out in the locker room, let's at least try to win some games while we do it, huh?

Unfortunately, this may be spot on.

I may get blasted for this, but I wish the organization would have held to their convictions when dealing with Ben.

#1 on my "Do not do list" for men is hitting a woman. It makes me sick when it happens and all I can say is that if he did it, I hope his ass gets locked up.

    See ya dirtbag!

If he had done that, they never would have dropped that part of the charges. But yeah, basically it comes down to value to the team and Rainey was easy to cut and I don't mind that they did one bit. In addition to this incident, he also texted "time to die *****" to a different girl on a stalker charge. See ya D-bag!

After this pathetic excuse for a season, I'm sure the Rooneys are in no mood for these kinds of shenanigans!

Yes, but I am sure that Mikey will say, "We'll accept responsibility for this and will not blink, questions?"

Yeah Mikey, I have a question:

Why is this team a bunch of undiscplined clowns, any ideas? Also, why are you such an idiot - like Arians... :lolol:

Why would Tomlin take responsibility for this?

Yup, was just about to post that. This move has Dan Rooney written all over it. Too bad for Rainey he wasn't trying to take his hypothetical kid to get baptised.

Good grief I'm glad we cut him but I hope the LEAGUE cuts him! Here we are coming off a disaster of a season with guys on IR and this moron goes and does this? Heath is probably already working his butt off to be ready in 9 months but this little gangsta is chasing girls over cellphones. These guys have no clue what it means to be a pro. I'm glad Rainey is gone because I thought he was a waste anyway. That's now TWO guys from this draft at LEAST that are morons. I think the jury is still out on Mike Adams. I mean he was clean so far but who knows? Rainey and Moo both had issues and they knew this going in. As a matter of fact, Tomlin even JOKED about Rainey's issues at training camp. I remember reading something where Tomlin would say to Rainey when he was up for a play in camp "Time to die" which was a reference to the incident that happened before on guess what.... A CELL PHONE!!! We can all say it was a good decision for the Rooney's to can the guy but it's getting to the point to where they need to quit giving CHANCES to people. They need to basically say "here is Heath Miller. Are you like him? Well if not then get your crap and get out of my face because THIS is the kind of guy we want on our team!" We just flat out need zero tolerance from this point on. These punk thugs are making this organization look just like any OTHER organization but it's NOT. This is the STEELERS and if you wanna be criminal this aint the place for you! Just ridiculous! But I can't wait to hear Rainey's excuse. I'm sure he had a rough childhood. I'm sure he comes from a rough neighborhood. Blah blah blah! To use a Tomlinism NO EXCUSES! NO EXPLANATIONS!

They were shopping Ben without ever being charged. Let Ben get arrested for smacking his wife and watch how fast he's dumped.
