Here's another idea.... don't wait untill the last minute to make a change, when you heard about the storm all week long.

Or take your stadium off the list of not able to host playoff games.

This is what I’m currently seeing from the NWS:

    Today
Snow showers likely, mainly between 9am and 11am, then snow after 11am. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of blowing snow after 9am. High near 21. Breezy, with a southwest wind 23 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible.
    Tonight
Snow before 1am, then snow showers likely after 1am. The snow could be heavy at times. Areas of blowing snow before 2am. Low around 11. Wind chill values as low as -5. Breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
    M.L.King Day
A chance of snow showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -5. Southwest wind 14 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

I get why today would be a problem for having 70k fans travel to and from the game. 8-12 inches of blowing snow during the day would be very hazardous for drivers and having that much traffic on the roads would make snow removal more difficult. It’s easy to imagine a dangerous gridlock on the highways where cars are having trouble moving and the snow is getting deeper and deeper because the plows aren’t getting necessary access. As of right now, tomorrow looks like it should be a go based on the forecast.

This! Some just don't understand Public Safety. It's not only the Governor but also the NFL, the Steelers and Bills agreed with the decision.

Weather channel is showing a view from inside Highmark Stadium. From the goalpost, you can make out a truck at the 20 yard line, but just barely.

When nfl saw weather forecast. They should have just moved game to Detroit. SI article says Monday game in jeopardy too. Throw in the towel and move game to indoors

What is completely asinine is the Steelers having to fly in today. BS
If the NFL is about safety. BS
This game could have been played today.

When I was a kid 5 to 12 inch of snow was perfect, sled riding, snow forts, hell. football in snow! lol, now add those winds and its a total different story. It just is not worth the risk being out there, especially 70 to 80 thousand people clogging the roadways in already horrible conditions.

Can the Steelers still fly with the travel ban still in place?

The good news is that, since the merger, the Steelers are 6-1 in postponed games, the only loss being a game that was postponed (Washington from Sunday to Monday) because the previous game (Baltimore, from Thanksgiving night to Wednesday) was postponed. So as long as the game doesn't get postponed to Tuesday, and the Steelers get moved to Monday night for round two, we should be okay.
And for those of you who long for the "good old days", where men were men and sheep were scared and football was played in any weather, prior to the merger the Steelers had 17 games postponed. So in 37 years they had 17 games postponed, and in the last 53 years they've had 7, 4 of which were due to covid in 2020.

I only did that once and my wife was promptly diagnosed with cancer

Instead of going to Costa Rica we went to Chemo Therapy

Although I got my money back I’ve never bought the insurance again

Wife is ok 10 years now

(note to anyone who buys the trip insurance I got all of my money back and it was fairly quick and easy I just had to provide proof of her illness)

Don't think they had a choice. If a band forms over the area for a while it would be disaster getting people out. For the risk of a silly football game?

The band is over the area now and for the next several hours. I'm ok watching the game tomorrow
