Pickett and Trubisky did set the bar low, but Rudolph has given a much needed boost to the offense the last three games and has played extremely well. Nobody’s ready to put Mason in the HOF, but it’s hard not to be excited about Rudolph’s performance to date. Hope it continues into the postseason.

 

So you think a backup can just cover for a DPOY candidate? If so, he isn’t DPOY.

Yes it's not like last year when Watt missed several games and we had practice squad bums filling in for him. Golden played a great second half against the Ravens and Herbig has been solid all year. Yes they are not TJ Watt but the drop off isn't near as steep as it was last year.

It is true that they have great depth at the position and that losing Watt hurts their chances of winning. Herbig getting more snaps is a good thing but nobody can completely replace what Watt does. Let’s hope the rookie is ready to light it up.

I have a soft spot for 3 just because the idea was good, ruined by studio interference and budget issues.

Random fact: The guy who played Hicks made more money off Alien 3 (where his only appearance is an 8-bit computer picture of him) than he did from Aliens.

 

I just don't forget, as easily as others, what Rudolph looked like the last time we saw him play before these three games. If people are going to bury Pickett after 24 starts, then I at least need to see that many starts from Rudolph before I annoyed him the next franchise QB of the Steelers.
As for this season and post-season, in my opinion he has earned the starts he's been given and that should continue. Next season though, is yet to be determined.

 

True that Watt is irreplaceable. That said, our depth at OLB is strong given a few years back it was non-existent.

I also think bringing Jack back has been an unexpected bonus, even if it was caused due to multiple injuries. He’s playing like I expected him to when we first signed him.
