I guess I have never heard of players of this era turn down more money to stay that may have a better chance to succeed.
You realize how the Steelers do business, they let most of their players explore their FA options,
then if they feel they need or can compete with this FA offer at the right market value to them they will try to sign.

Perhaps he knew from watching Pickett and Trubisky in practice that their play would be so bad, that people would shout out to start him, and then his normal qb play would look like gold in comparison. JK

If its rainy and windy like it is predicted, no qb can have a good day. If Mason struggles a bit, I bet Pickett fans will come out and shout that this is the real Mason.

I'm guessing you would do the same if Pickett started and played badly.

He has played badly good weather or bad in terms of scoring offense. 1.82 td to passes thrown ratio...lowest of all qb in nfl history (500 passes minimum). If you cannot score TD's and are at the bottom of all nfl quarterbacks in history in a scoring category....I have to consider you a bust.

Go ahead, no one's stopping you. What Mason really is will also eventually unfold as well. Will he revert back to bad habits against a good defense or is he a different QB with all of the time on the sidelines?
Unlike you, I don't have to have one without the other. I can want Mason to do well, without declaring Pickett a bust. Speaking in absolutes seems so absurd to me yet it happens non stop around here.

Yet Mason was considered a bust in absolute terms before his two good games. I don't know if he is or not, but he has shown more potential than the other two. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mason has at least made Steeler football watchable on offense.

I thought Kenny made it watchable against the Bengals after Canada was fired. Then Trubisky made it unwatchable again.

Has Kenny not played against scrubs? What's Kenny's best game vs any of these 3 games from Mason.

Why? Because 2019? You do realize all 3 of these games are better than Kenny best game. And he did it in the rain.

I think it’s impressive that he completed 90% of his passes AND made the big play when needed in that soggy mess, no matter the D.

This is a garbage stat comparison for so many reasons. First let's go with the obvious... under Matt Canada... Mason looked like crap, played like crap... and Kenny looked like crap, played like crap. As a matter of fact, the only thing that differentiated Mason and Kenny was Pickett's clutch 4th quarter plays... something Rudolph never showed in his first two years. It wasn't until Matt Canada was gone when we started to see both QBs put up strong numbers. While Mason looks like he's elevated his game significantly the past three games... I have no doubt Mason benefited from Faulkner and Sullivan having four games / a month's worth of adjustments and removal of Canada's stench from the offense helping him open up the offense, Mason playing with house money (nothing to lose) as the 3rd string QB, and the Steelers (in typical fashion) hitting on all cylinders (line play and running the ball) for a stretch of the season to give them a chance to make the playoffs. I also have zero doubt... that if a healthy Kenny Pickett played the entire games against the Cardinals, Patriots, and Colts... we would already be in the playoffs and wouldn't need either the Dolphins or Titans to win. There is also zero doubt that Kenny took a step backwards in 2023... due to his play... which was undoubtedly affective by a lack of a running game in the first half of the season, poor offensive line play the first half of the season, Matt Canada still running the offense, and Pat Freiermuth's injury. In the final analysis, while Mason is on fire right now (major kudos to him), it is a shortsighted mistake to discount Kenny's potential because Kenny showed legit clutch 4th quarter play, his stats in the first game after Canada was booted (Bengals on the road), and areas he has absolutely developed (such as 8 Ints in first 5 games, then 1 Int in the next 8 games, including going 6-2 in those last 8 games his rookie year). We can ride Mason this year as far as we can... but next year... if we don't lose Mason outright... there should be a legitimate camp battle between the two.

I have always said that he’s better than the other two… even before Cincinnati game. I am probably one of three posters that I know of that did.

Mason has played 3 games. He has the second most 60 plus yard TD completions in the league (Tua). He's played THREE GAMES! nice

Nice FYI also: Masons 112 rating (over his 3 games) --- zero by Mitch or Kenny(any of their starts past 2 yrs). One from Ben in his last twenty-five starts. Not too shabby.

I like whoever plays well. Mason is it.
