By all accounts, this year's draft is not exceptionally strong at the top for QBs, but there does seem to be a wealth of talent that might be available in rounds 2 through 5. I think the Steelers should strongly consider drafting their QB of the future this year. I think we missed a great chance last year when we passed on Kirk Cousins, who we were rumored to be interested in. Ben seems to miss at least a couple of games to injury most years and he continues to take a beating because his DNA demands that he hold onto the ball to try to make a play. I'm not sure hell be able to play much past the age of 35 with his style of play unless he modifies his game which he seems unwilling to do. The Seahawks found a gem in round 3 last year in Russell Wilson. Is there another guy that could possibly be had in those midde rounds that could serve as a capable backup and possible successor to Ben? It's time to cut bait with Leftwich. Batch may be able to stick around for another season to help with the young guy.

Admittedly, I don't follow college football as closely as I do the NFL so I'd like my MB friends that follow the college game to provide some input here. I have attached a link to Walter Football's top 2013 QBs who are eligible for the draft and there are some intriguing prospects. I like the guy at NC State who actually followed Russell Wilson down there, Mike Glennon. How about Jordan Rodgers from Vanderbilt, Aaron's younger brother, in the 7th round. A bit undersized but from the same genetic material as Aaron so worth a shot maybe?

Interested in your input. Thought? Discussion?

Dude from Duke has my eye. Apparently can make all the throws and has the size everyone looks for, 6'5" 225, much like Flacco. Threw quite a few INT's, but had a pretty good overall completion rate. Sean Renfree is his name. Could be a Day 3 target, well, should be a Day 3 target!

But yes, I do agree that we need to start looking at a QB. Not necessarily with a top-3 pick, but we have to bring someone in to see what they have.

I liked Foles and Cousins last year...and while they filled another need (NT) in the 4th last year...Cousins would be nice to have. Seems like he could be a solid backup...and who knows from there.

Not sure about this years crop of QBs yet...the guy from Oklahoma got my eye the other night that his feet were always moving (ala Luck/Manning)...doesn't mean he's good or not...just somethign that stuck out...he'll probably go early though. If theres not much IN the draft...I wonder about some younger backup free agents. Bring in a guy thats been in the league a couple years or so....and then draft a guy in a year or 2. Who knows...but something HAS to be done!
