I literally watched game 7 of the 1971 World Series last night, the whole game. The night before I watched game 6. Roberto was a monster in that series. Back then Stargell had some wheels too.

I have that whole series as well as the 1979 series on DVD. Also got a copy of MLB's lost tape of the Game 7 1960 WS that was found in Bing Crosby's wine cellar (he was part owner at that time and had it privately video taped). What a find. Quality is rather poor but we all know the outcome. Two highlights of my life - meeting and shaking hands with Maz after his playing days and a few years later, Rocky Bleier. :thumbs up:

The current national sports media narrative is look at Tomlin once again rallying his team here at the end of the season, giving them another opportunity to get into the tournament.

The reality is he hired an OC who was incapable of running an NFL offense, kept said OC way longer than he should’ve, lost to two 2-10 teams back to back at home at a critical time in the season, and badly botched the QB situation keeping the guy with the highest football intellect and clearly superior arm talent on the bench for the last two seasons.:facepalm::facepalm::frustrated::frustrated::frustrated:

We also often have slow starts to the season.

This is also true. Holding the Pats to a FG on any of their 3 TD drives likely wins us that game. The defense held us through many close low scoring wins leading up to those games that it was kind of a perfect storm for them to have a few bad ones. The defense held the opponent from the bye week in 2022 until the Cardinals game this season to 20 points or less in 16 out of 20 games. In one of those games the defense scored twice and won the game for us. Now, its no excuse to have bad games against bad teams... but they had held us in so many games (a number of which we probably lose in most circumstances) that there had to be a time where they couldn't carry the offense any further. A few pretty significant injuries happen and then *poof* 3 consecutive poor games. We've righted the ship, I just hope it wasn't one week too late.

So no blame on MT for that three game stretch and playing Trubs? None? Or does the President of Operations make that decision like they do in hiring Canada and every draft pick with nobody else’s input?

Yes. He’s the one who created the need to rally in the first place.

Really....really....the int didn't hurt us??? The whole 184 yards passing didn't hurt us???
Just listen to Heyward talk about how nice it is not to have to be perfect, and getting worn-out now.

I also wonder if the injuries were partially attributed to the amount of time our defense was on the field in the first half of the season, i.e. they began to wear down. Can't prove it but I believe it was a contributing factor.

What are You talking about???? Did You forget what our record was before KFP got injured, and they played Trubisky???
For the 50th time. Tomlin didn't bring Trubisky in, Tomlin didn't pay Trubisky. If You pay a FA Qb, and draft a 1st round Qb...they are going to see the field 1st. This is not a Steeler thing. This is a NFL thing. I've said it. Ben has said it. History shows it, and for every outlier You try to come back with I will give you 10 examples showing I'm correct. Some of You need to think, and not go with feelings. Feelings is what made people say Mason sucked. Not facts. Feelings are what made people say....Ben is holding Canada's offense back. Not fact. So dang many of You on here say things that are not facts....just how You feel, or how You think it maybe. No Freaking HC tells the owner, or GM who they are playing. Especially when they guys ahead of a player is a FA Qb that the GM brought in, and a 1st Qb that I would bet Money was a Owners decision. Hell You do know that if Rooney said tomorrow KFP, or Trubisky was playing....Trubisky, or KFP would play, and the only thing Tomlin could do would be to quit.

I don’t even know why we have a HC? I just want the President of Operations to do it all!! Wait he already does!

I apologize MT for all the nasty things I have said about you.

The facts weren't on Rudolph's side, either. Trubisky's career numbers were better than his across the board. It's not that Trubisky was good, but it was that Rudolph hadn't been good, either. The guy had one complete, strong start in 2019 when he lit up the Bengals. Most of that was dump-off passes to Conner and Samuels that took advantage of a terrible linebacking corps. He looked good early against the Ravens before nearly getting his head taken off. He had a couple of starts that weren't terrible once he returned, but they weren't great, then his play fell off a cliff against the Browns and Bengals, which led to him being benched.

Since then, he had only a handful of starts and none of them were great. The guy he was the last two weeks is not who he was in 2019 or 2021, when he got his last meaningful start. He used the time to get better, but the Steelers either didn't see it or didn't buy into it.

Much of what you are writing about how Trubisky was brought in and who has played since then is speculation based on what happened with other franchises, many of which have owners who meddle more than the Rooneys. That may be true, but it is not fact.

Sure, they didn't spend money on Trubisky for him to not play, but the available information at that time was in his favor. What they really should have done was go after a better backup like Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett, or Gardner Minshew and move on from Trubisky. (I did call for that this offseason.) I doubt Tomlin wasn't in on that decision, but Rudolph did nothing last year to show he should be moved up to No. 2. He didn't get the chance.

It's possible, but Holcomb's injury was more of a fluke of planting his leg as Neal hit him in just the wrong spot. A torn Achilles tendon, which is what ended Alexander's season, is usually bad luck. Aaron Rodgers suffered one of those four games into the season.

I have always thought our field conditions contributed to injuries, usually grass is better but our field is torn up a lot, usually has large swaths replaced and thus the footing isn't great, which doesn't help, ankles, knees, hammys, achilles, etc. Never will be able to prove it but if we only had our team playing on it and that's it the field condition would be better and I'm betting lead to a few less injuries.

I mean how many things must I point out.
    1. Canada should never be hired. What did I hear....LoL....yeah what do You know.
    2. Ben is not Holding Canada's back...What did I hear....teeehehehe....yeah what do You know.
    3. They will be sorry they brought Trubisky in. What did I hear. Teeehhehe....Yeah what do You know.
    4. If I ran the show....I would go with Mason, and if it doesn't work....Draft CJ Stroud.....what did I hear....teeehehehe...what do You know.
I could go on, but I won't. You would think people may kinda listen, but No....it's to easy to talk $hit ...then later say....yeah that's what I thought also.

I can’t really blame Canada anymore though. He doesn’t really do anything. Need the President of Operations to start calling a better offense!!

Stopped reading as soon as You brought up what Trubisky did 5 years ago ....two teams ago, and @jeh1856@jeh1856 wonders why I always make fun off You, and say Hey show us Trubisky numbers from Chicago again. LoL. Have You ever thought that Chicago made Trubisky look good....becauseHe hasn'tsince He left....not in Buffalo....not in Pittsburgh.......I tried telling You this, but You looked at stats....I actually watched Him play. Big difference.

Yes, you do provide me with funny things to read. Thanks for that.

I guess I should have argued in favor of drafting Joe Burrow when he came out, too. See? I would have been right! (They had as much shot at him as they did at Stroud.)

Yeah, 2018 Trubisky was irrelevant, but 2019 Rudolph wasn't. LOL You're funny.

The Bears, with mediocre talent around him and the coach they ran out of town on a rail, made Trubisky look good. Seriously, you're funny.

Why do you keep bringing up what he did in Buffalo as if that was relevant? He barely played.

But hey, tell us again how good the Bengals' defense is this season. LOL

The line about you stopping reading doesn't make you look as good as you think it does. It is either a lie or it simply makes your responses even more worthless.

No I agree with you. President of Operations needs to start coaching a better game. And draft 4 corners. And draft A great QB. I’m getting the hang of this now :roflmao:
