who cares about 60 other coaches? What possible bearing does that have with what's been going on with the Steelers the last few years? If your standard is to not have a losing season then Tomlin is your guy. 60 other coaches failing does not scare me at all in the search for a head coach. At some time you have to take the risk to make your team better. This nonsense of non losing seasons is ridiculous. Winning play off games is the standard.

There's been 69 hires in the last decade. With only 5 of those better than Tomlin. Point is the odds are against you it would be much worse

The odds? How the hell do we have only 3 coaches since 1969? I'd say the odds of Tomlin coaching another super bowl winner is pretty low as well. You don't live in your fears. You do what's best for the team. Sometimes it's recognizing when a coach has outstayed his effectiveness. In your world the Steelers dare not make a move because they might get worse. Dolphins made a move and it worked out. Chiefs made a move and it worked out. We could go on but why bother. We need to play the percentages and be satisfied with this level of play. No thanks.

They die enough down here. Lol. It's hilarious watching Saint fans mess with them. And I'm convinced there is more saints attire sold here, due to do many moves here after the hurricane.

Year after year their stadium struggles to put people in the seats. And even the weakest of teams out number their fans in their stadium. Hence why they had to pump in crowd noise.

Marty was subjected to some really harsh playoff losses. I think it just goes to show there is a lot of luck involved and how hard it is to win playoff games.

I thought Marty was a really good coach.

Parity has sunk into the NFL. It's kind of hard to build a dynasty.
KC and New England have come real close, with the Patriots actually being one thanks to Tom Brady.

To me, the NFL is like building a college team. It's almost a rebuilding process every year.
You have to be good with your Drafting and you have to have the sense of timing when to add those special FA's.
Your coaching staff has to be competent enough to develop those changes each season and use the strengths.
A lot of pieces have to come together.

I don't think Pittsburgh has been hitting on all cylinders.
We (Pittsburgh) do not have a strong roster and it is a bit shallow.
So, Tomlin getting anything over 5 wins is pretty decent.
I benchmark the 49ers because they are the best roster/team in the NFL - Yeah, I know about the Raven's game but let them meet again... lol
I do hope this front office steps up their game. I 'think' they will.
They have to be on the same page and have the vision to build a team.
I really fault them for not taking Tomlin aside for a conversation about Matt Canada. Canada had no business being in Pittsburgh this year.

Coaching needs to step it up in the analytics department.
I've been in that 49ers camp as recent as this last training camp and Kyle's staff is a machine.
They've tuned that machine to where the players enjoy playing there and buy into that system because it works.

17 years is an eternity. I think Bill has 24?
We can't exist in a status quo; we need to evolve some as an organization.
I prefer to acquire players for their abilities not because they are related.

I won't be laughing at anyone. My grandkids friend's will be laughing at my grandkids when comparing 1 SB winning coach to any coach that has more than 1 no matter how much my grandkids claim "well we were always in playoff contention".

My point it, being in playoff contention is irrelevant.

How many teams made a franchise move from a good coach and got better vs getting worse? Truth is you won't find many who move on, and not many becoming better. The teams you mentioned moved on from garbage.

For instance the two teams you listed....
Before Reid there was Romeo crennel who was .211. Before that was Todd Haley at .422. Both of which had zero post season success.

For dolphins the two coaches before him was no success into getting into the post season, except for one and they lost.

So they didn't make a change from having a winning coach.

What you're looking for is someone like green bay packers moving on from Mike Mccarthy who won them a ring. But his last two years were bad. And they cut him half way into the season. Matt Lafleur was a better move for them...... but as I said
    1. I have Matt listed as better in that 5.
    2. It's rare a good coach is moved on, and the team got better.

I like players who are related.
    1. A lot seem to work out on history of the nfl
    2. They know how each other thinks..... kind of like how you want a offensive line. Once they know each other they become better.

I agree we have not been hitting at all cylinders. I hope the firing of Canada means we start getting there. And 3 out of the 4 games has looked so good, I question if we will be keeping them as a OC for next year.

You know there's only like 16 coaches who have multiple wins.

And thanks for proving my point you don't even consider Bill a good coach.

If related players work, they work.. I just want the 53 best players I can get.

Like you, I am worried that they think those two have done a wonderful job.
I think it is a 'C' rated job.
We need to pick from outside the organization.

Yeah I hate that we don't move on with the writing on the wall.
And hate we how within over and over..... I wonder how many other teams do that.

I guess if your definition of a good coach is year after year not having a losing season and getting bounced out of the playoffs after one win then MT is your guy. No thanks

It's not my interpretation of what makes a coach great or not. I provided statistics of the coaches in the last decade. As well all time.

I'm simply saying there's not many who are better. And a lot who are worse, much worse. And we have great odds of it getting worse with a new coach.

You seem happy with having your grandkids laughed at. Good for you.

16 out of 524 had 2 or more rings. With 19 of those having a single ring.

Also, I'm going to stress again. You hate Bill and Tomlin.

Yep. I'm happy with having rings. While a lot don't have rings. Some never sniffed the super bowl.

What about the % of playoffs apparence for each coach...This is always the minimun goal in the regular season for each team in each season and if the steelers don't make the playoffs this season they would make the playoffs 10 times in 17 season under Tomlin only.Head coach like John Harbaugh make the playoffs 11 times in 16 seasons in our same division and he has more playoffs win in his career

With that logic we would never have moved on from Noll. After 17 years the message gets old and every coach overstays their time. Some of the greatest coaches in sports have said this. If you believe Tomlin has the complete skillset to guide this team to the Super Bowl again then you keep him. I don't believe he can with a young developing team with his coaching style and lack of discipline. His style worked with a very talented veteran stacked team. but I don't think it works with a mix of mostly younger players. So for me it's time to move on and find the next coach just like they did with Cowher. Tomlin was a nobody and impressed them so there will be another and yes it might not happen the first time but hopefully they find the next coach that gives them another decade. But being afraid of it being worse is not the answer for me to stay where we have been for quite some time.

hardest div last decade - yes, we would agree on that, overall and over that span, yes.

It's his underachieving that bothers me.

NO WAY we should have choked vs. JAX in 2017 playoffs. The 2014 home WildCard game loss vs. the Rats was deplorable. The skid in 2018 (below), at the end of the season, was awful. He has tripped and stumbled with some great offenses, because he is short sighted when it come to offense. He simply is not that guy. Has not hired those coordinators to be the greatest.

He is an underachiever, that is how I will always remember him. They will not win another ring with him as HC. The one they won was mostly with a team that the previous HC and GM built - with a few key additions, I would comment on. and that was what, 15 years ago?

    2018 End of Season:
