Fans just needed a pallet cleanser

The last time fans saw Mason it was

"This guy is no 7"


But now after 2 years of a different flavor it's

"This guy is no 8 or 10!!!"

Both things can be true

I never felt he was truly given a chance after Ben. They grabbed Mitch asap then drafted KP

I read some posts about Mason not looking good in the preseason... but he finished both with a 90 plus QBR playing with guys who got cut a few days later.

Mason is now 11-8-1 and a DJ fumble away from 12-8

KP is 14-11.. both were young guys thrown into the fire but KP was and orob still is given more of a leash. You can just feel some waiting for Masonb to have a bad game so that can yank him.



No matter what hapoens going forward this year or next.. im glad to see him get a chance

Im just glad we lucked out by keeping him and now we have a QB the team can have confidence in preparing a gameplan and coaching and calling the game on Sundays. Rather than being in no man's land, neither here nor there with the QB situation, waiting and hoping in spite of poor results.

 

I have always said MR got treated in a strange manner from the get-go, it appeared to me they decided very quickly that "This guy 'ain't it". Like he's always been in the doghouse, I wondered if he'd had some Ryan Leaf in him and upset the vets and coaching staff early on.

 

Steelers are gonna have a big choice. If Mason does well next week and saves this season, Steelers are gonna have to pay up and give him the keys or he’s gone. No way he trust them to make it a competition at camp. Personally I think you give Mason a full offseason with a good OC then go from there.

 

Let's face it here it's very early days with MR, but he's done enough to get a deal, especially with the lack of competition. Trubisky has been an epic disaster and has to go.

 

I don't think anybody wrote that Rudolph wasn't good in preseason. He just wasn't as good as Trubisky last year or this year. It wasn't a huge gap, but Rudolph was mostly playing against guys who were going to be unemployed by the time the real games started.

Record is a sloppy and inaccurate way to judge quarterbacks. Sure, it belongs in the equation, but there needs to be a hell of a lot more.

 

Maybe he really did use the N word out on the field that day...

 

I think he got the red-headed step child treatment way before that though.

 

If that was the case, he never would have been resigned. There were Steelers players near him as well as mic'd up players and refs.. Steelers management would have found out if it was true. Garrett's an ******* and always will be for that bullcrap.

 

None of us were out on the field that day and we'll never know for certain. I wonder how you would feel about Garrett if he were wearing black and gold.
