That is fair, but it will be very hard for the Broncos to cut him financially speaking. That's why I figured a trade would be the area he would be sought after.

I would take a chance on Fields if they could buy low, he's still on his rookie contract.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about these old washed up or bust QB's potentially coming here. When was the last time another teams castoff QB ever worked out for us? That's right, never. I'd rather stick with Pickett or Rudolph, or draft a guy

It's interesting how teams protect their own players until they are no longer their players. I never heard anything negative about Wilson when he was with Seattle but when he was struggling in Denver suddenly there were stories of what a diva he is and he has a huge private posse that he expects the team to allow to travel with the team. Just sounds like he is so full of himself he is a problem.
He might not be done but also might not be worth the headaches and we all know what a disciplinarian Tomlin is .

writer mark kaboly tweeted that he saw russell wilson at the pittsburgh international airport yesterday.

i think our choices would be:
russell wilson, one year, $20-25 million
fields, trade a 2nd round pick for him

no thanks for me on either. we're not done wasting our time on our current mediocre QBs.

If that's true about Wilson at the airport, I am officially worried.

NO, I have been watching the Steelers for over 55 years, they don't do business this way.
Although I look for them to bring competent competition into the QB room for next season.
Hopefully Their biggest hire will be an OC/ play caller and Offensive position coaches.

This. However, never underestimate the power of the dark side of the force. MT has a knack for bringing in former 1st rd QB's that have all failed. In this case, the money would preclude this from being realistic I believe. JMO>

I would take Mayfield as a back up and if/when Pickett falters he can step in. He has grit. I do believe if Mason plays well he will want a nice raise to stay but would jet in a second away from here.

I never got on the Wilson train.
I loved that Sean Payton set him right - NO personal trainers at camp and him doing his own things.
That was pure crazy on Wilson's part.

Just say No to Fields, it will end badly.

If Mason balls out, have a chat with him and see if he is ok with being the #2. (I don't want an attitude)
If so... sign him as such.
    Get rid of Mitch asap.

I would not draft a QB early as I would prefer to grab OT/C/LB/WR in the upper rounds.
With a new OC coming in, I prefer to address the building blocks first.

And what is so bad about "Pittsburg, Kansas???? Just goofing with you;)

Some years ago a not so bright guy I know fell in love with the Steelers. Told me he found a great cheap hat on line. Sure it was cheap cause it was spelled wrong.

Money may not be the issue as the Broncos will still be paying him a substantial amount in guarantees and anything his next team pays him will come off that by all accounts. I doubt Wilson is going to do Denver any favours when negotiating his next deal and whoever signs him will get a cheap QB for a year or two. Denver may be able to trade him and get some of it off the books but they would have to send some picks and / or players with him which would compound the initial bad deal, and they probably don’t have the picks to do it after trading for Wilson and Payton.

I just don’t think his face is a fit for the Steelers but there is absolutely no doubt he is much better than Pickett IMO

We are going to be stacked with Russel Wilson, Justin Fields, Derrick Henry, Aaron Donald, in addition to all the big O-lineman and mid-round QBs we all said to be drafting.

Although I do feel like a competent veteran is needed to bring in, I do not think Wilson is the answer. I would rather us sure up the offensive line, renogatiate with Allen Robinson for a lesser contract and bring in a bonafide OC and OL Coach. Broderick Jones looks promising but he has taken some steps back as of lately. Mason Cole really regressed this year and two tell tale signs the OL Coach needs to go is Seamaulu is not playing as well here as he did in Philadelphia and Dotson is playing really well in LA. I know the OC is partly to blame but when you have that many components either not developing or underperforming on your unit it is evident the coaching is an issue.

You actually believed that come on man , that pic is a social media joke that has been used for years, when fans want a certain free agent to come to Pittsburgh they would use that pic.

You are correct in they don't, but they did in different ways, You remember when they had Malone, brought in Woodley and Blackledge? I cannot remember if it was the same time, but when Todd was BU to Malone, he was making more than Malone (neither worth a dime). My point, filling a HOF QB who has left sometimes never gets done. That's the window we are in, I hope they do not bring in Wilson..or Fields for that matter, unless its a cheap FA contract if they are released. A trade for Fields is that pick and immediately picking up the guaranteed 5th year option, trading for Wilson means picking up what remains of that stupid contract, which actually starts this year. Someone posted that it is doable, but hard to really rebuild the problems you have when that much CAP space is dedicated to a QB who you really do not know if he can play well anymore.

As I said don't look for this to happen, I do believe they should bring in competition
To the QB room hopefully a veteran that has proven starter ability that young Qb's
In the room may be able to learn from. But as I said in previous threads the most important hire the Steelers will make this off season is the OC/ play caller. This hire
cannot be a miss. With the qb's making ridiculous money Steelers need to bring in
someone that can develop the QB room and an offense that players can succeed in.Look what
The new OC in Baltimore has done with Lamar.
