If you think Pickens is the only one to fail at a play, you're simply not watching football. From Johnson to even Big Ben, players fail at things.

And if you think its only pickens mad, you're mistaken there as well. He was just slightly more vocal. And due to Tomlin keeps that very low, the media team with it like he's randy moss, TO, Chad Johnson, etc etc.

I also find it comical there is people that hate Tomlin, but are mad that Pickens was right that he should be getting the ball more.

If you fail because you don’t give your best effort and I will despise you

Pickens does not remotely give his best effort nor does Johnson

Ben never gave his best effort and I will hopefully never forget that

Brady was great because he gave his best effort but I will not forgive him for cheating

People like Greene Bradshaw and Lambert gave their best every day and every play

I tried my best in life to live that way and I’m intolerant of anyone who tries any less

And I will not tolerate excuse let alone find it comical

The media isn't sucking people in. People that watch the games can see with their own eyes the lack of effort Pickens and Johnson have displayed.

I happen to think both are good players. I think with the right Coach/QB combination both can be elite players. The problem is we lack both elements of that combination.

Frustration/lack of discipline has become a normal part of every Steeler season. Tbh, I've gotten so used to it that it doesn't bother me much anymore.

Players and humans make mistakes. This a teaching point for coaches. The players that learn will improve. The players that don't learn may or may not learn in another way.

One week will be Pickens turn. Another week other players will get their turns ect. Pickens can learn this the easy way or the hard way.

I think that there is generally something wrong with the players that don't learn from Tomlin.

The media will say anything to get news. But yes we are wasting a good talent there and we should be using him more than we do.

Pickens often has that 'far-away look' in his eyes.

I don't think it is much of a revelation that the 'media sucks.' They do.
Sports journalism is non-existent, it's all TMZ stuff.

Players do lower the level of participation, especially when the play is all the way across the field.

I have to group DJ and Pickens together. They've both got poor attitudes and I don't know which is worse.
Then when you lose 3 games in a row when the playoffs are within reach, it adds to the scrutiny.

I use Terry McLaurin a lot as an example because of my familiarity with him.
He's had several QB's throwing the ball to him, so he is a very good example as well.
He stays relevant because he practices his routes to the letter. His timing is near perfect, and the effort is always 110%.
He is in the QB's ear, "This guy is biting on the inside move, I'll do this, you put the ball right there."
I've seen him dial it down to 95% when it is a running play to the other side, just making sure his guy is not going to be any part of the play, which is not hard
when the play s opposite side.
You will never see him give up on a route.

DJ and Pickens need to elevate their game.
We've seen potential and to me it is obvious that both have the talent with Pickens being a level or two higher.
Neither have added the effort to make themselves elite. They can be replaced without much ado.

It has been whispered about the locker-room that there are a few players with this problem.
    That's a problem.

Pickens needs some serious discipline. he is playing like a headcase, a child. Steelers don't need anymore head case receivers. Sure he did well last game but I really don't care how well he plays if he is going to act like a child. Tomlin should have disciplined him in some way.

:lolol: never going to happen with Popcorn. were going to keep it in house and you media types best treat Pickens with kid gloves because he is a work in progress.

My eyes not anyone else's saw a selfish self centered player that gave up several times. Now correct me if i'm wrong he actually said he didn't want to get "Rolled up on" during that Warren run. FUMBLE and he runs the other way. So spare me with the media blaming.

Yes Pickens needs to be involved more and probably was told at mini camps, training camp he would be. But to give up is inexcusable in game. But he is taking receipts what ever the hell that means.

Agreed. I have not seen to date any Steeler player with character issues suddenly turn around. He will continue to be a problem and serve as a team distraction. Not having a leader on offence presently will exasperate this issue. Warren showed him how to block on the TD of Austins TD. What I love about this is Jaylen more or less called GP out on his inaction and went out the very next game displayed his commitment to his team and the game.

The sad part is they have a guy just like Terry McLaurin on this roster.

His name is Allen Robinson. In 2015, Robinson had 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns with Blake Bortles throwing him the ball.

In 2019 and 2020, he also had 2400 yards and 13 TDs when he was with the Bears and Mitch Trubisky was his quarterback, plus some other backups playing.

The guy is a professional that is a real resource for these young wide receivers if they were smart enough to listen to him, accept some guidance, or even just learn by his example.

When a player can put up All-Pro numbers playing with that, you know they are the real deal. To have a guy like that in the locker room and still have these players play with no heart much of the time is criminal.

Never have I agreed with you more jeh1856.

I try to give my best effort, but I admit I fail more often than i'd like.

I am a big personal integrity and taking responsibility for one own actions and the resulting consequences. This applies equally to everyday life and politics for me (won't say anything further).
I do NOT like helping poeple that won't try to help themselves first. I may still help, but it will be a lower priority for me, to be sure.

True. If Pickens learns and matures from this, then he will be the biggest beneficiary. If he fails to absorb this, he'll alientate himself from many around him over time. This is a life lesson moreso than a football lesson. Methinks he dropped in draft for this very reason. Teams are leary of a me-first player right out of the gate. I wish I had gotten a harsh lesson earlier in life (I got some as life progressed) when I was coming up short in the maturity department as a young man/teen.

Oh, and I FULLY agree with Pickens on the stupid short routes ran all year. Our OCs and HC suck. I still want ALL of them gone, one game or final three games notwithstanding. I realize a strong finish means a likely extension for Tomlin and us bemoaning how bad we are each of the next four Septembers, Octobers and Novembers, only to finish strong and stink again next year. Not sure why it takes Tomlin 10-15 games to figure ANYTHING out.
