Trubisky sucks after all this time he can't seem to place his feet with good mechanics and throw a ball accurately or read a defense that doesn't lead him to throwing in triple coverage. The verdict is in for him.

As for Rudolph, I'm eager to see more of him. From what I saw, I saw a QB moving in the pocket, going through progressions, and throwing a ball pretty accurate with good mechanics. He took off when nothing was there, but his feet aren't considered his primary asset that he depends on for making a play.

Too bad even if he does great he's probably gone. I wouldn't stick with this team either if I was in his shoes

 

Yes I definitely agree cut him loose, if he makes mistakes, hopefully he learns from them. Ints and turnovers are unfortunately a part of learning and getting valuable experience

 

This was the first game in a very long time, i was excited to see offense on the field

 

I never thought Mason was a awesome Qb, but I did think as of right now He was the best on the team. Doesn't mean KFP won't be better, or not....Just right now, and I thought Trubisky was the worst Qb for Him to emulate. If You notice....a bunch of Trubisky problems.....KFP is also having problems with. Bailing out of a clean pocket, running into pressure, and a terrible deep ball. Maybe watching Trubisky isn't a good thing for KFPs growth.

 

Exactly, opposing defenses have no fear whatsoever of KFP

 

Except for today, i still think all 3 Steelers qbs suck, lol They are definitely not BIG BEN

 

Opposing defenses have to at least worry about Mason and his deep ball. Just missed DJ on another long pass.

You know another reason I always thought Mason was a bit better than the others, and this is just probably over thinking, but Mason was the only Qb that Ben ever felt pressure from, and seemed He didn't like. I always wondered why that was??? Why was Mason the only Qb that made Him feel threatened, and He didn't like???

It was my fear they would ruin him as soon as I realized they were keeping Canada after last season. I sure hope I’m wrong, but I think they may have “David Carr-ed” the kid.

Exactly this. I've noted several times this last season and a half that Kenny plays like Trubisky 2.0. He probably plays that way because that's who he's studying the most. Trubisky gets the second most snaps, with Mason a distant 3rd.

And then Mason comes in and what do we see? Well, we see a QB who played behind Ben Roethlisberger, and while Ben was a petulant a-hole when it came to his attitude towards Mason, it's 100% evident that Mason still learned how to play from the big guy, even if only through osmosis. I'm not saying Mason is the next Big Ben or anything silly like that, of course - but, to your point, it's obvious that Mason had a better QB to emulate and study, because his play looks more like Ben's than it does anyone else. Regardless, Mason should have either been QB1, or at least QB2, where he could have been a better influence on Kenny. It is what it is, I guess

 

I would be surprised if Kenny starts. If the Steelers were still a lock for the playoffs, I could see Tomlin and Co taking a laissez-faire affair approach with the QB position and put Kwnny back out there, regardless of Mason's performance, but that's just not the case. With all signs pointing towards Tomlin being on the hot seat this year for the first time in his career, the pressure is going to be on him to keep the ball rolling and to do what is currently working the best - and at least as of right now, what's working best is clearly Mason Rudolph. Switching QBs after Mason just balled out would have a deleterious effect on what has been for some time now, a very VERY fragile locker room. Even if only for that reason alone, I think the idea of switching gears so abruptly yet again after something finally clicked is precisely why it isn't going to happen. Again, maybe if the Steelers prospects were better - or, conversely, if they were mathematically ruled out of the playoffs (which they're not) - I could see them throwing Kenny back in there next game, but right now, they just don't have that kind of luxury imo.

I think if they were smart, the Steelers would start Mason next week, but keep him on a very short leash. I'd also consider extending his contract and force Kenny to compete with him in the off season. It probably goes without saying that Mitch should be cut, yesterday. Keep McSorley as QB3 and spend the next draft or two rebuilding the OL, starting with center.

 

Trubisky should be cut immediately. Even the idea of having him as an emergency #3 makes me nervous

I'm not granting all of your claims about what he can't do, but yeah, it makes no sense to stifle him like that if he is their guy.

 

Rudolph has never handled pressure well, either. He didn't face all that much of it against the Bengals. He did drift into a sack.

 

Yup, for the most part they weren't getting the pressure that forces him Off his spot. GP bailed him out on a few of those throws too. He's used to throwing contested catch balls. That's why they had Washington hoping to pair him up with him, but Ben stayed longer than they anticipated.

 

The way Ben treated Mason and handled that entire situation was pretty disappointing. I understand his thinking, but at that point in Ben’s career he had already mentioned retirement so the Steelers had to be at least thinking about the future. He treated Mason like a pariah. Ben could be a little passive aggressive drama queen from time to time.
