They pounded the conservative, don't throw an interception approach into Pickett's head for a season and a half. I'm sorry you are too blind to see the regression and the reason why it happened. I'm also sorry you are fooled by torching a horrible defense.

 

Yep. Can`t put too much stock in Rudolph`s play tonight. Cincy O-line is terrible IMO and their defense stinks when they play us.

 

He did. It's not his fault Johnson dropped the ball late and Tomlin failed to throw a challenge flag when he should have. They were far more conservative in that game because the defense hadn't lost quite as many pieces yet.

I have done nothing but praise the way Rudolph played tonight. I'm sorry if a little dose of reality pisses in your Puffins.

 

LoL. The Bengals just beat 3 playoffs contention teams, and people are making excuses.....because Mason won the biggest blowout We had all year, and people wonder why I have problem with people not being able to just say......I was wrong. LoL

 

Their defense stinks against everybody. Nick Mullens threw for 303 yards and a couple of touchdowns last week against them.

 

I'm watching the game now...and wow...Mason was good, almost right off the bat. This was the first game since Ben was on the team where I feel pumped up when the offense has the ball.

 

I wasn't wrong in saying that the available information made it clear Trubisky should be ahead of Rudolph last season. I wasn't wrong in saying we should look at a player's entire resume when evaluating that player. I wasn't wrong tonight in pointing out that the Bengals' defense is a joke. They gave up even more yards and two touchdowns to Nick Mullens last week and they have been garbage most of the season. They gave up 31 points in the overtime win over the Jaguars. I still haven't figured out how they held the Colts in check, but odd stuff happens. Their defensive numbers this season back me up.

That said, I don't think Trubisky would have done this tonight. Sure, he played much better defenses than this the last two weeks, but he is just too erratic. Against a defense that doesn't put much pressure on the quarterback, Rudolph is the guy you want in there. Sadly, that doesn't happen most of the time, but he was very good today.

 

I honestly don't know if it was a lack of guts or that he thought he had the line to gain.

I seriously wonder if Trubisky works on the physical aspect of his game at all. For someone that is obviously a good athlete, his aggravating propensity to throw off of his back foot and his inconsistent release tell me he doesn't.

 

His mechanics have never improved. Maybe he did think he had the line to gain, but in that situation, you have to make sure. You put your head down and get the yards Rudolph did that tonight. Trubisky didn't against the Patriots.

 

Not too, too far off the mark. 2 TDs, 290 yards, 0 Interceptions. Extremely solid performance.

Tomin said, "Scared money doesn't make money." I wonder if that is a matter of desperation with all the losses on defense, but I certainly don't think that is how they have coached Pickett. Maybe Rudolph really has figured some things out, but I still hope they haven't ruined Pickett.

 

As I said before, that is why you fail. If Rudolph does something like this against a competent NFL defense, I'll reconsider my lack of faith in him.

 

You do know when we played the Jags, the Jags had one of the worst secondaries in the NFL, yet KFP did nothing,zilch. Im sure its the coaches fault as you already stated.

 

Tomlin didn't offer any new information about Elandon Roberts after the game, but his tone did not sound good. That they were so certain he was done so quickly makes me think it was a torn pec.

 

The Jaguars have a pass rush. The Bengals do not.

It's not entirely their fault, but Pickett took a big step backward. His swagger, which was evident in college and early last season, was gone. I do think worrying too much about avoiding turnovers was the primary culprit. They showed faith in Rudolph tonight that they simply hadn't shown in Pickett. Maybe that was the belief that they could win every game 13-10. Maybe they didn't like what they saw in him but weren't ready to give up yet. Whatever the reason, I think it set him back.

If they really had this much faith in Rudolph, why wasn't he in sooner? Sorry, but I think the opponent was a big part of that.

 

Once again KFP is not a starter and definitely no where near being considered a franchise qb. One good year at Pitt, hell he played there for 20 years! Hopefully your not on the get Bo Nix train, lol

 

Exactly. He had two more yards and the first down if he just plows ahead.

 

And dont forget, KFP got hurt coming up short of goal line, plus had CA3 wide open in end zone. How he didnt see him when he went in motion on that play

 

No ....Your responses are predictable, and boring....plus...I just have a problem with people that can't just admit they are wrong. We learn from mistakes, but a man that can't admit they are wrong can only learn so much. You can't learn if You already think You know everything. We seen this same team.....why didn't KFP score any points. I believe the way the teams responded to Him tells You everything You should already know. Hey ....., but tell me again about Trubiskys stats on a different team ...4, or 5 years ago.

 

Like I said, will Mason keep playing like this? I highly doubt it. He is playing for another team right now. Yes the Steelers need to get a capable qb in the room to push KFP.

 

I do admit when I am wrong, but I know enough to stick to my guns when I'm right. You were happy to talk about anything positive Rudolph did four or five years ago. Now you have one game that makes your argument look good and you want to ignore how much of that was the opponent. Typical.

 

They also need to take the approach from tonight with Rudolph and do that with Pickett. Of course, it would help if they could play teams with horrible defenses all the time, but let the guy cut loose and live with any mistakes that follow.

 

Riddle me this, do the Steelers have enough faith to cut KFP loose in a game? My observations are KFP cant audible, has no idea whatsoever where the blitz is coming from, well known cant read zone defenses, so i would say that Steelers dont have faith in him, that being said why is he starting? Something isnt adding up.

 

I’ll say it. I was wrong about Rudolph. He came through today. He was poised, accurate and played to win. I would love to see him lead this team to the playoff. Low probability, 12% to be exact, but it would be quite a story
