I’m not condoning the recent behavior of our WRs, but it wasn’t that way at the beginning of the season. Not even close. It took a couple of months of frequently running open while being invisible to the QB to put their on field actions over the edge. Again, not condoning it, but their frustration didn’t materialize from nowhere.

I agree. If Pickens gets 2 or 3 medium/deep catches per game, he would be very happy.

AB was the biggest basket case and even he was happy cause he kept making catches.

Let’s not forget that their playoff hopes have nose dived because Kenny missed a wide open Austin for a TD and ended up getting hurt instead. Major gaffe by Kenny there.

Its fine to have a debate, that is what the board is for right?

    1. I might rate Ben higher than most, but he was certainly a top 5 QB nearly every year in the best era of QB's. He was immensely talented and successful.
    2. Maybe a touch, but I know that AJ Brown became a 1400-1500 yard receiver after he paired with Hurts. He caught for 869 the year prior. Smith is good. Julio Jones has 16 yards this year and the guys behind him look like everyone else's 4th-5th receivers. They have 2 very good WR's and not much else.
    3. He's wearing his frustration on his sleeve. People tend to disengage when they feel futility. Both him and DJ have not been able to get the ball for 2 years. They are starting to let it affect them both mentally.
    4. DJ was essentially who DeVonta is with Ben. A guy that is probably good for 1100 yards and 7ish TD's a year. DJ is broken because he's been mentally shaken. He's allowed the poor QB play to get to his head, and he was always a guy who needed help with mental focus.
    5. Is less than 180 yards a game not horrific in today's NFL? Pickett has been among the league worst in both on target and off target balls. Only Ryan Tannehill has a worse YPG than Pickett, only Levis/O'Connell/Zach Wilson/Mac Jones/Bryce Young have a worse QBR. 3 of those are rookies and the other 2 have been benched multiple times. Not good company to be in. I'd say its been pretty horrific.

I can get behind your last statement for sure. Get a real OC and get some guys in to compete with Pickett. If he magically becomes a decent QB, awesome. If not, someone else will take his job and play better. :) go Burgh

We’re now three quarters into the season and I’m not sold on KP.
He has the demeanor for it but can his body hold up to an NFL season?
We’ll have another season to see for sure, but sorry I’m not sold. Then again who am I? But that’s my opinion.

Agree.....I'm more concerned about his durability, then his intelligence to get better playing the position...We'll know for sure this time next year.

We lowered our house clean standards many many years ago

We have dog hair tumbleweeds rolling around daily

I’d rather have the dogs than a clean house

Nobody dies thinking I’m glad I had a clean house

Saying Kenny Pickett can be every bit as good as a 2 time SB winning, HoFer and greatest QB a 6 time SB winning franchise has ever had is the single most idiotic statement I've ever heard regarding the Steelers.
What does it take to get posting privileges revoked around here.

The only thing "beyond obvious" about Pickett is he is not durable at the NFL level and he's 25th or worse in most of the meaningful statistics for QBs in his second year with all the keys to this offense. Everything else is just jibberish or conjecture.

Frequentlyl open??? You must have seen different games than me, or your still stuck with youyPickett hate. You think Canadas schemes and concepts FREQUENTLY made our wrs wide open??? You actually believe that our wideouts were frequently wide open?? Because some bloggers were disecting film that told you that?? More footage of Kenny hitting those plays, than him whiffing on those frequently wide open receivers

He misses them all the time. He’s hurt because he missed Austin all alone for an easy TD. If he makes that incredibly easy read and throw then he doesn’t get his ankle busted up and perhaps the Steelers don’t lose the next two games.

Yeah, our QBs are still missing these wide open receivers the last 10 quarters, against defensive juggernauts with Canada's innovative schemes that our current co OCs are still using, with their own minor tweeks

The incompetence level of this team is nothing short of astounding.
You want players that do not give up and mail it in.
The entire offense is trash, no matter what QB you put behind Mason Cole.
As I've said a million times, good WR's do not pout... they go to the QB and they open those communications and get on the same page... they don't go off sulking.
Matt Canada injected cancer into this team. His silo approach is a massive failure.

    I did too.
That's why I save so many. I've seen expert predictions on some great players.
Sometimes, once a player slips on a uniform and laces up the cleats, it's a total different story.

But the truth is, Cowher put Ben in and it was a perfect storm.
They ran the ball, they played solid defense, they threw only when they needed to.
I have huge admiration for the way they did that.

*I feel I must clarify (not for you specifically but some are not getting it): Ben is one of my very favorite QB's.

I agree that Ben was put into a great situation but you could tell he was special. Even when I was on board with Pickett after last season I still wasn’t sure where his ceiling would be, that of Kirk Cousins or higher than that. I would gladly take kirk Cousins at this point. Currently I don’t even know if we’ll get Derek Carr out of him which is where I had him when they drafted him.

Coaching needs to be shaken out, absolutely have to get that right because what he has had up to this point has stunted his growth.

I don't rank him as a Mahomes or Josh Allen... Kurt Cousins is probably a good mark..
That requires a team built around him.

Tell your wife that for 4th of July a few years ago I had a bunch of friends staying for a 4 day weekend

There were 12 dogs also here and every time you opened a door it looked like the Bumpus Hounds

    Feeding time was controlled mayhem

It was great some of them even got in the pool

Pickens isn't just showing frustration. He is showing immaturity and selfishness. He has no concept of the work that needs to be put into playing the game which makes it difficult to see him fixing his flaws, especially running better routes. If they can't stay engaged regardless of what the quarterback is doing, that is on them.

Johnson is just showing frustration, and in one instance, it was a really bad look. What Pickens is doing is inexcusable. He is part of the problem with the way he telegraphs plays and his poor route-running.

I think it may be worse than stunting his growth. I think the regression might be due to the coaches. They beat it into his head that he couldn't turn the ball over and it turned him gun shy. Hopefully, a new offensive coordinator and/or new head coach can help reverse that effect.

Awesome! I'm a dog lover but the give and take of marriage. Dog's have helped me without even knowing them. I hated driving to her brother's on Thanksgiving Day. Brother digs dogs. About 6-7 years ago he did an adopt a dog thing and with his kids bringing their dogs there is now 6-7 dogs there on turkey day. Last 6-7 years we go to her brothers down here, a sweet 7 miles from home.

I sure hope we don't get Derek Carr out of him. All the interceptions would be sickening.

Is that the Derek Carr that Kenny Franchise beat last year?
