If your Tomlin you have to be pretty dejected. He had a HOF QB for almost all of his time here and has nothing to show for it since 2010. So what are you thinking if you’re him, well all I need is a QB? Well you had that, so Im just wondering how much fight is left in him. Takes a lot of hard work and time to be a HC, does he have it in him to do a rebuild? Continue with that NFL HC grind when you already had all the pieces in place for many of those years and still weren’t getting the results you wanted.

I don’t know, I can see him being ready to do something else. I wonder if he would be interested coaching in the college ranks. He’d be a recruiting monster, a thought that @Steel_Elvis@Steel_Elvis once floated that I completely agree with.

No question it seems like his heart isn't into it this year, even before the recent disasters

Well, Tomlin has already said never to coaching college football, but if a school like Notre Dame made him an offer I'm sure he might reconsider his position

I know what the post is about oh great wise one! You think anyone that is currently not employed as an NFL head coach cant possibly be better than Mike Tomlin. Well there are those of us that know that is possible to replace him and the day will come when we have a better coach, we all just hope its next year!

Exactly. I hear, and I'm not saying anyone on here, but I hear guys all the time saying they would wish we would lose out, and don't care about winning season, but then find out the worst season they ever seen was 8-8, and they want everything blown up for that. I always ask them....how would You know. A losing season to you is 8-8, and You freak out on that...LoL. Some of us have seen 5-11, and 6-10 seasons, and guess what....there wasn't a SB win anytime soon after some of those. Some act like we just lose, and change everything, and it will be SBs. LoL

You just made My point. LoL. That wasn't our 1st 6-10 season, or our 1st 5- 11 season. Reread what I said, here I will just say it again since You didn't read it the 1st time.....there wasn't a SB win , anytime soon ...after some of those.

I still think that a rebuilding is necessary if the Steelers want to be a true contender again.Nothing is guaranteed, but they need to try this and they need real changes...Being stuck in the middle is a terrible thing

Maybe, but a lot of people truly believed Bill Cowher would never win the big game, a lot truly believed that A. Reid couldn't win the big game, a lot truly believed Ben was holding Canada's offense back, and a lot truly believed any Qb would be better than old a$$ Ben, and a lot truly believed that Trubisky would be great here, and it was just the coaching everywhere else. I'm not saying You are one of these people. I'm saying what a lot truly believed was totally wrong, and they won't be paying the price of being wrong.

It's true that many wondered if one day Cowher or Reid were going to win a super bowl but the question for Tomlin right now is not if he's going to win another super bowl but if he's going to win another playoff game, so as you can see the standard is really lower right now.The Steelers had several opportunities under Cowher to go to the Super Bowl, same thing for the Eagles under Andy Reid, they came up short several times but at least they had a chance

Since 2011, the Steelers have only been in the AFC title game once and it was a blowout in 2016....They have been in the divisional round only 3 times since 2011, that's too low

In his career, Tomlin has been in the divisional round only 5 times which is less than the AFC title game by Cowher in his career! And Cowher has been in the divisional round 9 times in 15 years, so the Steelers were way more often in the hunt under Cowher so when you're in the hunt, sometimes you just need a little luck and it can be your year but you must have this opportunity...

For Canada, I gave the benefit of the doubt after 2021 since I believed that the biggest problem with our offense was that Ben was too limited but I lost 100% confidence in Canada very early in the 2022 season....It's unbelievable the Steelers kept him for another season, it's such a big disgrace, no other team would have done that.Yes Pickett is a problem, but he got no favors too

I used to be able to say the players always played hard for him but seeing the lazy attitude of some lately is really bad. If Tomlin has lost the ability to get the team to play hard for him he doesn't have much to fall back on.

A new coach will not have success for a few yrs, our offensive line is bottom third in pass protection and any QB and HC combination will struggle until that is fixed.

The defense has one great player , a few good players being paid as if they are great, Highsmith and Minka both have under performed this year. Minka has had a lot of injuries and they have changed his roll he never was or will be the disruptive run stuffer physical safetie , he is a lot more Ed Reed than Troy P . Why they started using him differently and taking away what he did best is questionable. Highsmith has had an off year and maybe Cam being out for so long and now not the impact player he used to be has had an effect on Highsmiths game.

Our two WR are immature emotional midgets that both seam too delicate to handle the stress or the reality of losing .

I believe the Steelers started getting weaker the more involved Tomlin got in the draft process, they got away from best player available and started reaching.
The entire operation has somehow lost focus. They should of seen Pouncey getting pushed around two years before they drafted his replacement.
We have some drafts and within 5 ys not one player is playing for us that is not good enough and not how to rebuild this team.

Watching the game last night I heard Artie Burns name and realized he is still playing, maybe someone coached him up.

Whether Tomlin is here or not I see some positives I think the last draft was very very good, half way through the year and 4 rookies are starting. That's the kind of production you need from the draft.

We have a lot of holes on the roster, some poor coaching all the way through the coaching staff, and a QB that is still a ?.

Let hope Khan and Weidl can handle what's in front of them.

I know it was a different era but look back at the Steelers roster back when Joey Porter was near the end of his career. Throughout the entire roster you could see the potential of the next guy in the wings . The depth was incredible on both offense and defense. Currently we are fielding practice squad caliber players and it shows.

Same here. I think it's worse be consistently around the .500 win range.

We never win meaningful games late in the season or the playoffs and we miss out on high draft picks that could significantly improve the roster.

it's a yearly lose/lose scenario for us lol.

I personally have been as vocal as anyone that I know or read about getting rid of Canada and now Austin.

I have been EQUALLY as loud mouthed and **TRADING** Tomlin because I know that he is (or is it now “was”) wildly popular around the league. But just letting him walk or firing seems like burning a stack of money to me.

I won’t pretend to know who too many great coordinators or lower level coaches are around the league to replace coordinators. That’s for insider NFL figures to know and figure out. But head coaches…? That’s someone we should all know who is the next best candidate.

As much as I think it’s time to move on from Tomlin (IN…A…DRAFT…PICK…TRADE...ONLY!) I don’t see a great replacement in the league. I’m sure there is one, but who?

I hate to say that I agree with Colin Cowherd, but I do want an offensive minded coach. With all the rules favoring that side of the ball it makes sense. When was the last time a top tier defense won a Super Bowl, let alone the main reason why they won?

So, what coach would we actually want? I’m currently at a loss.

This entire conversation about Tomlin might be completely different if fans had confidence that he could hire effective coordinators on both sides of the ball.
There is such a laundry list of issues with this team that it's difficult to identify which one to tackle first.
Maybe there is a world where Tomlin stays but hires the coordinators who can get the most out of this roster, while letting Khan and Weidl fill in the holes. I just don't know if he has the energy for it anymore. That's not even addressing the work ethic of some players on the team and the overall culture in the locker room.

You had to have listened to his views over the past several years. Everything from our stadium sucks to Ward being dirty player. Your mistake, which is common for people that just read headlines, is listening to him because he is jumping on the bandwagon to denigrate our team.

Nothing about this particular statement was against our team... in fact, his statement showed a surprising degree of respect for our tradition.... doesn't matter what he said before.. what he's saying now is 100% spot on.... in this case he's not the hater... you are

Gotta have faith in the Rooney’s and khan to find the right HC. If we don’t then we’re lost whether Tomlin stays or goes.

Tomlin lost me when he didn't suspend Diontae, the guy walks off the field during a fumble...Now everyone with talent think they can whine..
