Trubisky has played himself off the team. I can’t see any scenario where he’s retained for another season

My two priorities if I was Khan would be to try and sign Jason Kelce and Kirk Cousins. Both are massive upgrades to what we have now. Both are aging though and not a long term solution, but if we can add a few necessary pieces, I really think this team is talented to compete now. A center and a QB are the two biggest pieces needed, along with a new OC of course.

Cousins injury isn't a concern as he doesn't run around making cuts. It's irrelevant. He's getting old, but QB's tend to age well and he was lighting it up before getting hurt this year. Jason Kelce is still a beast out there.

We fill those holes and use our draft picks to address other needs. I understand that means we are giving up on Kenny Pickett, but I simply don't believe in him.

If not Cousins, I bring in a veteran presence and make Pickett compete for the starting job. Pickett was given the job because Mitch was terrible. Pickett has never done anything to earn it, at least not yet.

I agree with this, but I would prioritize tackle over guard.

IDK either, the draftniks have not started the pimp parade, but miss having a dominant guy in the middle.

Pretty much everything I've said about Cousins also. I personally dont think there's another veteran outside of Cousins thats even worth looking at. Baker Mayfield is having a comeback year, but i think it may be foolish for Tampa Bay not to resign him.

I would prefer to draft a Center in the first rd I don't think the Steelers would be able to wrestle Kelce away from Philadelphia. I can see him wanting to end his career as a Eagle and may even give them a hometeam discount to make sure it happens. Really good offensive lineman are a prized resource. It would be really hard to pull him over here.

Getting Cousins is still up in the air if the current Vikings backup QB (Mullens) thats starting isn't able to do better then Dobbs and i mean significantly better. If he doesn't then Cousins will get upwards 38 or more as a base salary from them and I don't see, or even want the Steelers to pay that type of money for him even though I really want him here. I was hoping more like 25-29 million as a base, but he could build upward through incentives. Would the Steelers be willing to pay Baker Mayfield 25-29 if he keeps up what he's doing? Would he accept it and would Tampa match it??

Cousins is not the answer. Not exactly sure he's a Band-Aid. That would be one expensive band aide anyway.
The draft? Really need another OT and Center and probably 2 WR's... CB...LB...

I guess the first order of business is to get an OC.
Figure out the FA and then draft strategy.

But then there's a what if Tomlin calls it a career?
Now you've got to build an entire coaching staff.

Either way, Kenny is the only current QB that needs to be in camp.
Get at least 2 more anyway you can and open the competition.

There really isn't anyone to be had at C worthy of first-round stock in this draft. It's heavy on OT and WR, has more QB options in the top 50 than the past couple, and will see the regular amount of EDGE and CB selections. The best C prospect is Sedrick van Pran out of Georgia, and most currently have him slotted to go late 2nd/early 3rd.

It's sad that we are talking about the following season when the current one still has 3 games to go.

Only bright side this season is I'm thinking the AFC Playoffs will be very entertaining.

The Steelers need a clean sweep of their offensive coaching staff. A veteran OC needs brought in. Whomever this OC is should have a large say in who the remainder of the offensive staff is. Unless the Steeelers upgrade their offensive coaching staff/scheme, it's not going to matter who the quarterback is.

I chose Pickett BTW. He definitely deserves another year.

Draft and or bring in QB(s) to compete with KP. The entire current O line not named Jones becomes our backups. Speaking of, put Jones back where he belongs replacing mediocre Moore. The line is so bad that it’s priority #1 in the draft. This line in front of any QB or RB is a major failure from the top and has been for a while now. So it’s Kenny’s job but with competition and major upgrades out in front of him.

I personally/realistically think a CB can be had at 17 or whatever we end up picking
than a center in rd2 fa will play a big part in how roster is built. Competition
@ QB has to be added KFP will have to earn the job. If they don't fire. MT
Then the OC/ play caller is the most important decision that will be made even over
    Player aquisition.

Explain to me why Cousins isn't the answer?
Also explain how he's a band-aid. I'd love to hear that one considering prior to this season he missed like 1 game in 7 years.

Seumalo is a good player and our best OL this year. We have several OL that need to be replaced, but he isn't one of them. We also need different play designs and play calls, as well as an understanding of personnel. Asking Muth to be an inline blocker makes the whole line look bad because he'll get blown up. This team isn't putting guys in a position to succeed. Better play designs and play calls will make our line better. Look at the 49ers. Midway through the season their OL was ranked in the bottom 10. Does it seem to have slowed them down at all? Despite not getting good play, particularly from the right side of their line, they made adjustments and schemed around that. Unfortunately we don't have an offensive guru like Shanahan, but still, there's ways to help the OL. We don't do that.

We do need a center in a bad way though. Ours is terrible

Pickett was given the job because that's what you do with first-round picks unless you already have someone established ahead of him.

Cousins is going to be 36 and he will be coming off a major injury. (Was it you and I that argued about this?) I know I got into it with someone who used Aaron Rodgers as an example of how much more quickly players can return now from an Achilles tendon tear. Of course, that story turned out to be bull****. Rodgers may have done some light work at practice, but the story came out today that he isn't 100 percent healed. As always, he just wanted attention.

Cousins is going to be expensive and this team has many holes to fill. They need to upgrade at center, tackle, wide receiver, cornerback, defensive end, inside linebacker, and safety. Heyward may retire. We don't know what the status of Holcomb will be. Alexander was only with the Steelers on a one-year deal and he's also recovering from a torn Achilles. Pickens may need to find a new home given how he is quitting on his team. That is a lot to deal with along with an expensive, aging quarterback.

Someone like Mayfield or Minshew would seem to be a cheaper option. Bring them in and have them compete with Pickett. If none of that works out, look for your long-term guy for 2025.

I voted Pickett even though my confidence in him has dwindled throughout this season. We've got a first round pick invested in him so we at least need to give him a shot with a competent OC. But I do think we need to bring in some competition for him next year whether it's a round 2-3 QB in the draft or an upper tier free agent.

Id be very surprised if Kenny isn’t the starter next year but they need a more dependable backup behind him. Somebody with a relatively high floor like Minshew, Brissett, Dalton etc.

Clean sweep of offensive coaching staff and go after a seasoned OC to support Kenny’s development as others have said

Draft DB or OT in the first round, Center in the second if the board falls kindly. They have to improve that line, new Oline Coach will be an important hire.

Preseason / training should always be somewhat of a competition for positions. I say give it to Pickett, but if he is not putting out the effort and is being outplayed, then all bets are off. I do think that he needs a season under a good OC that designs a game with the strengths and weaknesses of the team and players in mind. Stop trying to fit square shapes thru round holes. I really think that his growth has been hobbled by play design and an inflexible and authoritarian OC running an offense designed to beat 8 graders at an academy school where education is the most important thing and sports is a hobby.

I’m certainly not writing off KSP and I hope he does well

But why would anyone vote to just hand him the job (17 votes now) vs bringing in competition (14)

Every position should always have competition if for no reason than having good backups

Either would be a solid choice. They would challenge Pickett. They both have the fire. Pickett would either stand or fall, hoping this lights a fire in him.

But, if its the same as it ever was Offense and they promote Faulkner to OC all bets are off. That would be a travesty.
